Anyone notice all the robots in the Quad last week? 🤖 👀

We hosted Team UK and Team France for a four-day robotics competition ahead of WorldSkills Shanghai, a global competition where people put their technical skills to the test.

Team UK includes our very own MSc Robotics student Pratham Lohia, who’s been training for the competition at Middlesex with teammate Peter Jenkins.

Their challenge in the Quad? Programming a robot to carry out precision welding used in the automotive industry.

We can't wait to cheer them on in Shanghai next month 👏

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… the iHawk 🦅

Middlesex Mechatronics graduate Samuel Ogbuehi won a major award for his final-year project ‘The iHawk’ at New Designers, one of the UK’s leading graduate design showcases.

Inspired by birds of prey, the iHawk is designed to fly like the real thing and scare away pest birds.

And Samuel wasn’t the only Middlesex grad who picked up an award.

Product Design graduate Cherise Joseph-Holloway was recognised for Thrill Pals, which turns the experience of a theme park ride into a personalised keepsake 🎢

“I realised I made the right decision when I actually walked through the campus" 🌳

Clearing might not have been Haseeb’s original plan, but it turned out to be the right one.
