📍 The Old Observatory Building, Institute of Astronomy Cambridge 🔭

Known as the ‘Obs’ building to Cambridge astronomers, the Old Observatory Building was built in 1823, and for well over a century was both a working observatory and the residence of the observatory director.

Today, it is just one of the buildings that constitute the Institute of Astronomy. A wide class of theoretical and observational problems are studied at the Institute, ranging from the study of extrasolar planets to supermassive black holes and quasars, and of the evolution of the whole Universe, through theories and observations of the formation and evolution of galaxies and stars, X-ray sources and black holes.
