"Give it a try! Or you will never discover your true potential."
Today we celebrate the birthday of Toru Kumon, the founder of the KUMON learning method, who would have been 109 years old today.
Part of his business philosophy was and is to contribute to the local community.
His legacy extends far beyond the boundaries of his own community. Thanks to him, more than 4 million children in over 60 countries around the world are now learning to be self-directed learners and reach their full potential.

Sunday 14 March is Mother's Day and we'd like to take a moment to thank mums for everything they do for us.

From its conception, the Kumon Method was devised as a daily, home study programme.
Our founder, Toru Kumon, was a father creating daily maths worksheets for his son to study independently at home. With practice, his son’s maths ability naturally began to improve and so did his confidence.
Today, our Instructors take the same approach to assessing and tailoring the study programme to each individual child and their needs.

As we prepare for children to get back to school, Kumon is here to support your child's academic confidence.
We'll tailor the study programme to your child's needs rather than to the curriculum, enabling children to catch up or get ahead with their learning.
There's no registration fee at hundreds of our centres until 31 March. Speak to your local centre today.

The biggest difference between Kumon and your typical tutoring service is the style of learning. A tutor often sits with a child and explains how to solve a problem—making the student a passive learner.
Kumon goes beyond tutoring by actively developing critical thinking skills as children progress independently through a carefully crafted math and reading curriculum.
Each lesson is planned and individualised by the Centre Instructor for your child(ren). The worksheets are designed to provide examples of the problems to be solved. The student is challenged to follow the example, try to solve the problem on their own and only when they’ve tried, they can ask for “help”.
They are learning by doing, not watching. With long term study, problem solving skills often become second nature for Kumon students.

Children at Kumon have been continuing to learn and develop all through the lockdowns and time away from school.
Many parents have told us how doing their Kumon study daily has played an important part in their child’s lockdown routine, helping them maintain their ability as well as exceed expectations.
We've dropped our usual registration fee at hundreds of Kumon centres, so tell your friends to contact their local centre today, and get their child's learning back on track.

We love pencils at Kumon!
Ask your Instructor about the best pencil type for a young child, that will help build the muscle strength in their hands and develop their fine motor skills. In older children, we encourage the correct pencil grip so that we can develop the child's handwriting too.

“Will studying Kumon help improve my child’s performance at school?”
When children have confidence, good study skills, and solid educational foundations, they thrive at school. At Kumon, we frequently experience this first-hand. But where is the evidence?
This year, the UK’s leading education thinktank – The Education Policy Institute – conducted some independent research aiming to investigate the links between studying the Kumon Maths Programme and children’s school performance.

The results are in!
Kumon students are over a year ahead of the national average, and over six months ahead of their peers in their maths learning at the end of primary school, according to an independent study conducted by the Education Policy Institute in England.
Kumon is proud to be recognised as an education provider that delivers proven academic results. By excelling ahead of their peers by the end of primary school, Kumon students have the confidence, study skills, and academic ability to thrive in their transition to secondary school.

My name is Deepti Sawant and I am the instructor at the Dollis Hill Kumon Centre. How things have changed.
The National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER) announced today that the head teachers believe around a third of pupils are not engaging with set work, which is quite worrying. Experts believe that this learning loss will be much steeper this summer due to the lockdown and school closures. This is putting the mental health of children at risk.
I have been speaking to many prospective parents lately and I can sense their concerns and anxieties about their children having no routine and falling behind with their studies. I had the same concern with my own two children. Luckily, I am able to bridge this gap in their learning through Kumon which has offered them a routine and kept them on track.
If you are anything like me, anxious and worried, then please do get in touch. I can help.
At Kumon Dollis Hill study centre, we are currently offering free assessment to find out the impact that this lack of learning has on your child. We can test his/her maths and English skills, as well as assess your child’s ability to focus and engage with his/her work.
My team and I have been running the Kumon centre in Dollis Hill for over 10 years. We are very experienced and can offer expertise up to university level maths and A Level English.
This is a pivotal time for children in year 6, 9 and 10 especially and I would love to hear from you if you think we can help. We offer a free 1:1 assessment initially, conducted online.
The Kumon programmes are suitable for children from the ages of 2-18. Children study for a short amount of time every day and join classes up to 2 times per week (more is needed).
You can send me a private message; you can email me on [email protected] or you can contact us through our website: www.kumon.co.uk/dollis-hill
We can make a big difference in this difficult time.
A third of pupils 'not engaging with set work'

A big thank you and a round of applause 👏👏👏 for our Kumon parents for working tirelessly and trying to keep consistency and routine in these difficult times!
