Everything that you discover and learn melodically, harmonically, rhythmically, or technically, should be explored and practiced in a real musical context.
If you are new to Improvisation I often recommend starting with the Minor Pentatonic Scale.
You can then learn and use some simple chords to create your real music context, and that could become a backing track that you record, it could be a simple sequence of chords, maybe two chords for an “A” section, and two chords for a “B” section.
If you have a friend to play with that’s even better!
When you start improvising try to connect to each note and take your time to absorb those sounds, allow space and feel to be in the experience. Don’t rush it, stay in the moment, suspended.
Then you would start exploring real music, where those notes become powerful and meaningful colours, and they eventually be your musical voice.
It’s an inspiring, precious and rewarding process.
Enjoy!
