As we approach the Easter break, we want to extend our warmest wishes to our school community. Easter is a time for renewal and hope, may the spirit of Easter fill your hearts with peace, love and happiness.

We hope that the weather will be kind to us, to create lovely memories and have some well-deserved rest. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school after the break, refreshed and ready for the term ahead. Happy Easter to you and your families.

In Year 2 they have been learning all about the environmental pressures on the world's 5 oceans. They learnt about how plastic waste causes huge problems for ocean life and how we can help to reduce this. One of the ways is to reuse single-use plastics so they created bird feeders from waste plastic bottles. They are looking forward to seeing the lovely birds that will come and eat from them.

Today we celebrated St Patrick’s Day with a school assembly, we explored some of the history, traditions and Irish Culture. Lots of children wore green items, like socks or ribbons in their hair, some had shamrocks and hats. Following the assembly, the school was treated to an Irish Dancing display by some of our pupils.

Over the past few weeks, Year 2 have been learning about different habitats, which is linked to their Science topic. They have focused on the animals that live there and how these animals are suited to their environment. The homework task was to create a habitat box and they could choose from the following habitats: Desert, Polar, Ocean or Rainforest.

To complete this project the Year 2 children have been busy at home making their habitats and writing information leaflets to accompany their habitat box, they needed to include, the name of the habitat, which animals and plants live there, how the animal is suited to the habitat and any other additional facts they may know.

This week Year 2 set up a viewing gallery in the hall for children and staff to view their work. We loved the different habitats and how unique and creative they were. Below is a selection of some of their work, we think you will agree they have all worked very hard to create some very amazing and interesting habitat boxes. Well done to all in Year 2.

WORLD BOOK DAY
WOW – what a wonderful collection of characters on show this year – everything from W***y Wonka to Harry Potter. Wimpy Kid to Cat in the Hat – what a great collection. Thank you to all the children and parents who made such great efforts. We were also really impressed by the fancy pyjamas that the children wear for their bedtime reading!

Thank you to the wonderful parents who were able to give us some of their time this week to share either their favourite stories from childhood or stories from their cultural heritage. Their children were so proud of them – how lovely to be able to share your mum or dad with your friends.

A huge thank you to Mr Fabian for organising the football academy players to come and read to our children. What fabulous role models they were – our children were really impressed, hearing these young men read, sharing their love and joy of story was a great addition to our book week activities! THANK YOU.

In preparation for this Lenten season, some of our children from across KS1 and KS2 have worked incredibly hard on a special RE project. Together, they created a beautiful series of silhouette artwork depicting the Stations of Cross, which is now displayed along our school corridor.

Over the coming weeks, every class will have the opportunity to visit the display, reflect and learn more about the events of Good Friday. This has been a truly lovely and inclusive RE project, bringing children together across year groups to share in learning, creativity and faith.

On the 2nd of February our Reception Classes led a special service to celebrate the feast called Candlemas. This is when Mary and Joseph brought their new born infant to the Temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord and were greeted by the two elders Simeon and Anna.

We celebrated Jesus’ birth at Christmas exactly 40 days ago and we remember that He is the Light of the World. We can be more like Jesus by shining our light.

What an amazing opportunity the Year 5 and 6 children had this week when they were invited to Brentford stadium to watch the match between the women’s Gotham FC and Corinthians FC.
It was a fabulous match and the children joined in whole heartedly, cheering and supporting from the stands. What a fabulous time had by all. Thank you to the wonderful parents who were able to join us and es**rt us to the stadium and back home again.

ZooLab visited our Year 1 classes last week and provided a fantastic experience for the children. The children had a great time exploring a variety of animals, including corn snakes, frogs and tarantulas. The session was engaging and informative, with the children learning interesting facts about each animal, what they eat and what they are scared of. It was a wonderful hands-on experience and a great way to extend the children’s learning.
