Animal Footprint Painting 🐘🎨

Painting with a twist! Our children explored painting in a creative new way by dipping toy animals into paint and printing their footprints onto paper. As they investigated the different patterns and talked about the animals, they combined creativity with early exploration and discovery.

This activity supports the EYFS areas of expressive arts and design, understanding the World, and communication and language, encouraging creativity, observation and rich conversations.

πŸ›πŸŽ The Very Hungry Caterpillar comes to life! πŸŽπŸ›

Our children have been enjoying activities inspired by the much-loved story The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Through stories, play and hands-on activities, the children explored fruit, colours, counting and the fascinating lifecycle of a caterpillar.

Combining a familiar story with practical experiences helps children develop their vocabulary, listening skills, early mathematical understanding and imagination, all while nurturing a love of books and storytelling. πŸ“šπŸ’š

πŸ¦‹πŸŒΏ A magical moment at TicToc! πŸŒΏπŸ¦‹

After watching our caterpillars grow and transform, the children had the very special experience of releasing our beautiful butterflies into the garden.

It has been wonderful watching the children follow the lifecycle of a butterfly first-hand, from tiny caterpillars to chrysalises and finally beautiful butterflies ready to fly away.

This hands-on experience supports the EYFS area of Understanding the World, encouraging children to observe change, ask questions and develop an appreciation for the natural world.

A very special goodbye to our butterflies πŸ¦‹πŸ’š

🀸 Summer Safety Series: Trampoline Safety

Did you know that most trampoline accidents happen when more than one person is bouncing?

To help keep children safe:
βœ”οΈ One child at a time.
βœ”οΈ Avoid adults and children bouncing together.
βœ”οΈ Teach children simple trampoline safety rules before they start.

Taking turns may not be as exciting, but it's much safer.

πŸ’› Follow our Summer Safety Series for more simple ways to keep children safe this summer.

πŸŒžπŸŒ‘ Look Up! The Solar Eclipse Is Coming πŸŒ‘πŸŒž

Today, a spectacular partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to the wonders of space and talk about the Sun, Moon and Earth! 🌍✨

If you're planning to watch the eclipse together as a family, please remember that looking directly at the Sun can cause serious and permanent eye damage, even during an eclipse.

πŸ‘€ How to watch safely:
β˜€οΈ Never look directly at the Sun without appropriate solar protection.
πŸ•ΆοΈ If using eclipse glasses, make sure they are specifically designed for solar viewing and meet the ISO 12312-2 safety standard. Regular sunglasses are not safe.
πŸ” Never look at the Sun through ordinary binoculars or a telescope without a proper solar filter.
πŸ“„ A pinhole projector is another safe way for children to experience the eclipse without looking directly at the Sun.
πŸ“Ί Alternatively, watch a live stream together, such as the Royal Observatory Greenwich's eclipse broadcast.

Why not turn it into a learning opportunity? Talk to your little ones about what an eclipse is, draw pictures of the Sun and Moon, or make your own simple pinhole projector together!
Let's enjoy this incredible natural phenomenon safely and make some magical memories along the way. πŸŒ™βœ¨

πŸ’¦ Summer Safety Series: Paddling Pool Safety

Paddling pools are lots of fun, but even a few centimetres of water can be dangerous for young children.

Always remember to:
βœ”οΈ Actively supervise children at all times.
βœ”οΈ Empty the pool immediately after use.
βœ”οΈ Turn the pool over or store it away so it can't refill with rainwater.

Safe play means happy summer memories.

πŸ’› Keep following our Summer Safety Series for more family-friendly tips.
