During Week 11, our students explored expressive portraiture through acrylic, taking inspiration from artist Samira Addo, winner of Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2018.

They experimented with bold colour, loose brushwork and layered paint to create portraits full of energy and personality 🎨

🍂 Just a few afternoon places remaining 🍂

Our Autumn Course starts Thursday 10th September and we now only have a few places left in our afternoon session (2pm–5pm).

Over the 14 week course, you’ll have the opportunity to explore drawing, oil pastels, watercolours and acrylics while developing your skills and creating your own artwork along the way.

For Week 10, our students took on a joyful and energetic dog portrait, experimenting with impasto techniques to build texture, movement and personality 🐶

We’ve loved seeing all the different characters and interpretations come to life!

For Week 9, our students headed to the seaside for this mixed-media , experimenting with acrylic paint and collage to create atmospheric coastal scenes.

Using layers of torn newspaper and paint, they explored different textures and techniques to bring their boats and seaside settings to life 🚤

For our final watercolour lesson, students explored new techniques to create beautiful scenes filled with colour, texture and detail.

Using masking fluid to preserve highlights, they experimented with vibrant blooms and terracotta pots, capturing the abundance and colour of an English summer 🌺

In Week 7, our students explored the lively world of urban sketching, combining quick pencil sketches and expressive fineliner with vibrant watercolour.

Using perspective, confident line work and careful observation, they created street scenes filled with colour and character 🎨

During week 6, our students took inspiration from the French countryside, creating colourful vineyard scenes with watercolour pencils.

From terracotta rooftops and distant landscapes to detailed grapes and leaves, our students explored colour, composition and atmosphere while experimenting with this versatile medium 🍇

Our oil pastel adventure continued with Camels in Cairo 🐪

Our students used vibrant oil pastels to bring their camels to life, layering rich desert colours and adding plenty of character to their camel companions.

Week 4 saw our students working with oil pastels ✨

Students explored blending, layering and mark making techniques to create beautiful Beach Dunes studies, inspired by the warm colours and peaceful atmosphere of summer evenings by the beach 🌅

Some of our new students also completed an apple study, giving them the opportunity to become familiar with the unique qualities of working with oil pastels.
