Pride Month learning shouldnโ€™t just raise awareness, it should build real knowledge and practical capability.
When I deliver sessions during Pride month and beyond, my aim is to help staff move beyond โ€œI support LGBTIQA+ peopleโ€ to โ€œI understand the issues, and I know what to do.โ€

What people gain from my sessions:

Deep educational insight
- Clear explanations of identity, terminology, intersectionality, and the structural barriers LGBTIQA+ people face, especially racialised communities.
- No jargon. No judgement. Just accessible, evidenceโ€‘informed learning.

Practical tools they can use immediately
- How to intervene safely when something isnโ€™t right
- How to communicate assertively, respectfully, and confidently
- How to support all colleagues navigating systems and processes
- How to build everyday allyship into their role
- How to challenge bias without escalating conflict

Space for real questions
People often tell me itโ€™s the first time theyโ€™ve been able to ask what they really want to understand.

The result?
Staff leave feeling more informed, more capable, and more confident in creating an inclusive workplace, not just during Pride, but every day.

Yesterday I had the joy of delivering an interactive session for the Court Theatre on menstruation, menopause, and gynaecological health, topics too often whispered around or avoided entirely in workplace settings. Co-designed with the team, and with the executive director in the room, this was inclusion lived as a value rather than a box-ticking exercise. By the end, participants were making personal commitments to carry the work forward and watching a room full of people decide to be braver is really one of the best things Iโ€™ve ever witnessed. Itโ€™s why I do what I do

Absolutely loved delivering this closing keynote for at the ELT Conference. In this highly interactive and participatory session we explored how intersectionality and diversity strengthen excellence in English Language Teaching, challenging the myth that โ€œnative speakersโ€ make better teachers. Drawing on research and interactive activities, the session highlighted that the qualities people value most in teachersโ€”such as empathy, clarity and expertiseโ€”are unrelated to nationality or accent, and that diverse teaching teams improve both organisational performance and learner outcomes. Participants were encouraged to take practical steps, including removing โ€œnative speakerโ€ bias from job adverts, using competency-based hiring criteria and preparing clear responses to discrimination against multilingual teachers.

Find me on Iโ€™m leaving other platforms by the end of February. Letโ€™s connect there

I turn 58 today! Growing old is a privilege denied to far too many. As I celebrate, Iโ€™m acutely aware that countless people in Palestine, DRC, and beyond will never see their next birthday, robbed of their futures through acts of genocide.

December 10th is Human Rights Day. From genocide in Palestine and DRC to attacks on trans rights, erosion of bodily autonomy, marginalisation of disabled people, and systemic racism, the fight for human rights continues.

We must use our voices, platforms, and resources to stand with those whose rights are violated. Silence is complicity. Human rights are not negotiable. They donโ€™t depend on geography, politics, or convenience.

On my 58th birthday, I renew my commitment to justice. I encourage everyone to examine their privilege and ask: how can I use it for good?

The best way to honour Human Rights Day is through action. If youโ€™re able, please support:
