We are looking for a Theory Tutor to join the teaching team on our BACP-accredited Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, starting September 2026.

This is a two-year renewable contract working with up to 14 trainees on Monday evenings, based at North Bank, London, N10.

This role is suitable for a qualified psychodynamic or psychoanalytic practitioner with a teaching qualification or a serious interest in moving into an academic role.

It is not only what and how we observe our clients, both in the content and process of what our clients communicate and the way they are communicating in the room with us, it is also how we register and experience the impact of our clients. How we listen to these feelings and experiences with our clients which is so peculiar to the dynamic in each session. If the counsellor can allow themselves to be open to this impact, to become aware of it and be able to think about its meaning, without judgement, then the counsellor will have a powerful way of utilising and enriching their grasp and understanding of the transference in their practice.

We run CPD workshops across a range of these areas, open to qualified counsellors and trainees at any stage of their career.

Our Diagnosis and Medication CPD workshop offers participants an insight into common mental health conditions, the medications often prescribed, and their potential side effects. We'll also look at mental health as a continuum, explore when to refer to a mental health professional, and consider the social and cultural factors that shape mental wellbeing.
