There is no right and wrong in a counselling space. You do not have to be in crisis or even know why you want to start counselling. It could just be curiosity that brings you to the door and that would be an excellent place to start.
At Highgate Counselling Centre we would encourage you to scratch the itch, to push the door a little wider and we will be there to sit beside you and explore together with you what brings you to the work.

Every year Highgate Counselling Centre holds a summer picnic for members and their families. It's an important date in our diaries, where we get to come together as a community and share a little more of what is important to us together.

Graduation Day at HCC! On 18th July, we celebrated our Certificate trainees and qualifying Diploma trainees at HCC's Graduation ceremony.
Michelle Simmons-Safo was an incredibly engaging guest speaker who addressed graduates and guests with thoughtful vigour, energy and passion. This energy was then matched with the whoops of congratulations coming from the graduates and their families, as they watched their peers and loved ones collect their awards.
Such a warm and moving day as the graduates ended their training relationship with the HCC community and were reminded there will always be a place for them in their professional home at HCC.

Moving from one career into another rarely happens all at once. Sometimes it’s a series of interests, questions, and experiences that gradually start to point somewhere else.
As part of our Faces Behind HCC series, a member of the teaching team talks to us about moving from finance into counselling and teaching. How that shift unfolded, and what it has meant to then support others in their own development.
It’s a personal account of training, practice, and the ongoing nature of learning in this work.

What is it like to be in the middle of counselling training? Between study and practice, thinking and feeling, personal life and professional development, something is constantly being negotiated.
In our latest Faces Behind HCC blogpost, a second year Diploma trainee reflects on the realities of psychodynamic training: the demands, the uncertainty, and the unexpected ways it begins to shape how you think and experience the world.
This interview offers a glimpse into what the process can be like from the inside.

Have you been considering starting counselling, but perhaps there are no affordable counselling services in your area. Or maybe you struggle to see how you would realistically fit another weekly appointment into your diary. Although Highgate Counselling believes that counselling is an important commitment we are also committed to trying to make counselling accessible to all who it is appropriate for and want to access it. This is why we offer online and face to face counselling so that we can reach more people and also help to bring counselling realistically into more people’s busy lives.
Curious whether online counselling could work for you? Send us a message or drop us an email we're always happy to talk it through.
