π¬ π We'd love to start having more conversations with you all, and this week we'd like to start a conversation on the purpose of current systems of education.
People talk about 'broken systems' of education. Rather than being broken, we believe current systems of education are working in pursuit of the wrong goals.
π₯
What do you believe are the problematic goals of current systems of education?

We are really excited to be taking part in the upcoming about designing for inclusion.
As learning designers, how might we better recognise and overcome our own biases so that we can create experiences that reflect, incorporate and celebrate the essence of what it means to be human?
Can we, as a learning design community, co-create solutions that are more inclusive?
ποΈ Come along and hear practitioners Vanessa Faloye and Laura Patsko share real inclusion challenges they have needed to respond to.
ποΈ Take part in a discussion group to co-create solutions in response to those challenges.
Join the conversation on Tuesday April 27.

In our latest blog post Laura Patsko and Vanessa Faloye explore how we can move from a well-meaning but still exclusive mindset to a genuinely inclusive one.
They touch on:
- Why it's important to move from designing for 'equality' to designing for 'equity'
- How we can be more proactive to anticipate a variety of learner needs
- How solving challenges for the most acutely marginalised βfewβ actually solves for everyone else along the way.

Towards the end of 2020, we launched a new project with Innovate Uk into what more inclusive learning design looks like, or as weβve been calling it, ILXD π₯
We have realised that we canβt simply develop a tool or set of tools to make learning design more inclusive and accessible. We also need to take a long, hard look at ourselves, to reconsider and evaluate everything we do, and take concrete steps towards becoming a fairer, more diverse and inclusive organisation in all respects.
By attending to all three pieces of this puzzle, we hope not only to improve our work as learning designers but to improve ourselves as individuals and as a professional team π
