“My future plan in the MA course is to continue exploring the subjects I collect through printmaking techniques, particularly etching, as well as sculpture. I plan to collaborate with other artists, archaeologists, scientists, and archives to uncover new ways of perceiving time, life, and the natural world.” 🌱 – Meng Li
MA Printmaking student Meng Li recently held her first solo show at Peckham Levels’ Studio 3, a space open to Camberwell, Chelsea, and Wimbledon students & staff.
"Echoes of Existence: Life in Objects" is a print and mixed-media exhibition that explores how we assign meaning to inanimate objects. Using stones, bones, and wax, her work questions perceptions of life. From symbolic portraits on plywood to melting wax sculptures, each piece reflects transformation, fragility, and the ways objects shape our understanding of existence.
Her art invites viewers to reflect on our shared ties to nature. ✨

We caught up with Tanaka Mazivanhanga, an MA Printmaking graduate who was one of ArtWorks Open 2024 Prize Winners! 🎉✨
The ArtWorks Open is an annual exhibition organised by the Barbican Arts Group Trust. This year, Rudy Loewe and Phoebe Collings-James selected the artworks.
💬"I exhibited a Mokulito print titled Untitled III from my Landscapes Series, which was awarded £1,000 and a solo exhibition!”
Tanaka originally studied Architecture at Kingston School of Art but found the discipline restrictive. It was in the print room at Kingston where she discovered a love for printmaking.
📢“I spent three years experimenting in the print room, and the print room manager encouraged me to apply for an MA. Though I wasn't initially that confident in the medium—I went for it. It was the best decision I made, and I always recommend it!”
During her time at Camberwell, Tanaka found a deep sense of community, which played a crucial role in her artistic development.
👥“Our small studio group was incredibly supportive—we always helped each other. My tutors, Jo and Leora, challenged me with thought-provoking questions, and the printmaking technicians were fantastic. Having South London Gallery next door was also a huge inspiration whenever I felt stuck.”
Since graduating, Tanaka has been refining her printmaking practice as part of East London Printmakers, setting up solo shows and is participating in Art on a Postcard for the Women in Art Prize. 🎨

Spotlight: “Domitila Barrios, Una Mujer Luchadora” – A Tribute Through Design 📝 by BA Graphic Design graduate Michelle Leaño 💫
Since today is Social Justice Day, we’re excited to spotlight the work of Michelle, who created a Risograph zine and poster project to honor the life and legacy of Bolivian labor rights leader Domitila Barrios.
Domitila, an Aymara woman and community organizer from Bolivia’s Siglo XX mining town, dedicated her life to advocating for workers' and women’s rights. Born in 1937, her powerful story is documented in her book “Si Me Dejan Hablar” (Let Me Speak), archived at the Feminist Library in London. Yet, despite the profound impact she had, it’s challenging to find archival images of her or the community she fought for.
🇧🇴🌇
Michelle creatively addresses this in her project, which aims to provide an introduction to Domitila’s book, as well as reflect on the challenges of preserving the memory of those who fought for justice.
Find Michelle at on Instagram.

Meet Georgia Scholes, a BA Fine Art: Drawing final year student 🎨 Recently interviewed by Artit!
Here are some highlights from her interview:
"My creative process is rooted in rituals. I begin by decluttering my thoughts—cleaning and making coffee to clear my mind. I use my experiences with depersonalization to explore new ways of creating. ☕️
I’m learning to love the tension between raw creativity and the discipline required for my craft. I think the way I reconcile it is by opening myself up to chance and probability. When I give up control and allow myself to be guided by the visual imagery, it becomes a form of spiritual give and take. 🌌
💭 We’re moving away from the idea that suffering makes a better artist. Suffering is part of being human, but it’s about balance and channeling those experiences to create a visual landscape."

“Art is a way to show what's possible, and a powerful way to communicate. Art takes an important place in responding to problems and debates of today's world. This inspired me to become an artist.” ⭐
We caught up with Xinyu Liu to talk about her MA Fine Art: Computational Arts final project.
💻💾
Q: What is your final project about?
“My series of works called 'Attention!' includes 'The Message You Don't Want to Miss' and 'Attention is All You Need'. This series of works examines marketing ethics and media literacy from the perspectives of advertising and journalism.”
Q: What do these works consist of and what were your references?
“'The Message You Don't Want to Miss' is a video installation that focuses on attention theft - a type of unethical marketing that causes frequent distractions or makes viewers unaware they are looking at an ad to begin with. The work starts with a serious news report and gradually evolves into a frenzy of advertising.
Attention is All You Need is a mixed-media installation about misinformation, media bias and AI-generated content. When media aim for clickbait and sensationalism, they may prioritise information that provokes strong emotions or controversy, often at the expense of accuracy or nuance. It's like looking at this eye chart; we usually remember the prominent content at the top rather than the truth at the bottom.
My online experience inspired my project. Too much information can cause cognitive fatigue, while misinformation can cause cognitive biases, desensitisation, or exacerbate conflict. This series of works encourages viewers to reconsider how they interpret messages and information from mass media.”
Q: What have you enjoyed most about studying at Camberwell College of Arts?
“What I enjoy most about studying at Camberwell is the opportunity to deeply explore my own pathway while interacting and learning from people in other pathways. It gives us an interdisciplinary perspective.”
Thank you Xinyu for sharing!
