Instrumental lessons,ensembles and Kodaly and Dalcroze musicianship classes led by specialist tutors with wide experience including Guildhall and Trinity Junior departments. usic Classes is an offshoot of the highly successful Trinity College Stringtime scheme. They aim to integrate the concepts of the great music educators Zoltan Kodaly (singing) and Emile Jaques- Dalcroze (rhythm through movement) in the instrumental, ensemble and musicianship classes. The classes take place on Saturday mornings. A 40 minute general music and movement class is offered for nursery and reception years where the youngsters respond to music through their voice and bodies ( their first instruments) to develop a sense of pulse, rhythm and pitch before beginning to coordinate with a string instrument. The older children generally begin a string instrument in year 1 and have a more extensive and integrated timetable of ensemble, music and movement classes as well as an individual instrumental lesson.

We enjoyed 8 weeks of Spring term 2020 in our new venue, Lowther School in Barnes, but lessons and musicianship classes will still continue on line for this term until we can meet face to face again. Happy music making during Lockdown!
