Senior appointment announcement📢👏🏽
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Jason Hallett as incoming Head of the Department of Chemical Engineering, succeeding Professor Omar Matar from 1 October 2026.
Professor Hallett brings extensive leadership, experience and strategic vision to the role as the Department continues to drive excellence in research, innovation and teaching.
Professor Omar Matar will take up the position of Dean of Imperial's Faculty of Engineering.

On 13 May, Professor Jerry Heng gives his Imperial Inaugural Lecture - Crystallogenesis: order at the interface 🥳
How does order emerge from disorder? He’ll explore how crystals first form, how order can re-emerge after disruption, and what that means for medicines and materials we rely on every day.
