We have been as busy as bees 🐝 over the last two weeks as we learnt about bees 🐝 and spiders πŸ•·.
The children have enjoyed making bees 🐝 using potato mashers and spider πŸ•· webs πŸ•Έ using cutting wheels.
We have looked for bees 🐝 and spiders πŸ•· in the school garden. We have learnt about the parts of a bee 🐝 ,how they make honey 🍯 and how they help with pollination 🌸🌼🌻🌹πŸ₯€πŸŒΊπŸŒ·.
We have made a huge spider πŸ•· web πŸ•Έ in the classroom and learnt how a spider spins its web.
We have enjoyed many activities in the inside and outside environment.

Following the children’s interests this week we looked at snails 🐌 🐌🐌.

We read the story of β€œSnail Trail” by Ruth Brown, acting out the story both inside and outside the classroom.

In Forest School we found an empty snail 🐌 shell 🐚 and made spiral πŸŒ€ patterns on rolled out clay using small stones. We continued this inside and made trails and spirals with transient art material.

Speedy the giant African Land Snail 🐌 came to visit us the classroom, we held him carefully as he was very heavy.

We found snails 🐌 in the garden, read books πŸ“š about snails and played the snail game. We drew spirals, made dough snails 🐌 in cookery and used the spinner to make unique patterns for our snail shell 🐚.

We learnt about the parts of a snail, what they like to eat and how to always put snails back where we find them in the garden.

This week we have been experimenting with magnets 🧲 🧲. We went on a magnetic treasure hunt πŸ” and sorted objects we found in the sandpit into magnetic 🧲 and non-magnetic.
We made a dancing dog πŸ• or cat πŸˆβ€β¬› and used a magnetic 🧲 wand to move its legs and wag its tail πŸ“ŽπŸ“Ž.
We played the magnetic fishing game 🎣 fixed together the magnetic puzzles and explored magnetic forces on the tuff spot.
It was a wonderful week to explore and experiment in so many different ways with magnets 🧲 🧲
