Meet the alumni!
We caught up with the lovely Darren Flanagan to find out what he’s drinking lately, what we should be listening to, and how he came to be London Sales Manager for The Whisky Exchange Trade 🫶

📚✨ Finally diving into "Girly Drinks" by Mallory O'Meara, and I can not believe I left it so long.
This incredible book uncovers the history of women in the drinks world - from ancient royalty like Cleopatra and Catherine the Great to modern spirits legends like Joy Spence and Bessie Williamson. 🥃👑
I've had this on my reading list ever since hearing Mallory speak about women in the drinks industry at Tales of the Cocktail years ago. With some long travel days ahead this month, it felt like the perfect time to treat myself to a new read! ✈️
What fascinates me most? Learning how drinks and their rituals became so gendered over time and discovering the incredible women who shaped the way we drink today - many whose stories have been played down for far too long.
We're so fortunate to work in an industry filled with inspiring women right now, but I'm excited to learn about those women who paved the way before us. 🙌
Have you read this one? Or do you have other spirit industry book recommendations? Drop them below! 👇

Summer's winding down - cooler evenings and returning rain 😔
But we're squeezing every last drop from the sun! One of our favourites for warmer days? Vermouth ☀️
Cocchi Storico di Turino - a bartender staple that gives us sweet Manhattans, Negronis, Blood & Sands, Bijou, and the Vieux Carré.
Don't just think spieit forward cocktails, though! Vermouth is versatile, low ABV, and delicious on its own or with soda.
What is Vermouth? Wine fortified with spirit and aromatised with botanicals (especially bitter ones) with some sweetness for balance.
The key botanical is wormwood, but Cocchi also adds, amongst others, gentian, quinine, bitter orange, star anise & rhubarb root.
What's your favourite way to drink yours? 🤔
Want to explore this and other vermouths? Join our next WSET Level 3 Spirits course:
