It was through a lunchtime corporate yoga class (nearly 20 years ago 😱) that I had my first taste of yoga. A group of us from different departments would come together with our newly bought mats for an hour of yoga organised by our Company. It was the first time I learnt about moving mindfully and the power of breath to calm a busy mind. We’d have a laugh trying to get into and falling out of the trickier poses. Then it was back to our desks, refreshed and ready for whatever the afternoon brought.
✨
And that’s why it feels extra special now to be the person bringing that experience to others. I’m lucky enough to be able to fit my yoga work around my “day job” and having Mondays off allows me to bring yoga to more organisations.
✨
This lovely company in Chancery Lane have a busy end of year, lots of events and global travel happening. They wanted to offer lunchtime yoga sessions over a number of weeks that would support the physical and mental wellbeing of their employees during this busy period. It was my absolute pleasure to support them. What a great crew!
✨
Kudos to all the organisations prioritising their employees’ health & wellbeing. 🙌

SURRENDER: first teaching class this year is tomorrow. I wanted to share that it’s ok for us to start back in wherever we are in this moment. No expectations, no self-judgement, no pressure.
✨
Your practice will always be different to someone else’s. It will even be different to your own day to day, week to week. We wake up with a slightly different body every day. A different mindset, a different set of emotions and so we are always learning to practise with respect to ourselves and these wonderful bodies that continue to keep us alive.
✨
Only you know how something feels. Close your eyes, breathe slowly and allow your intuition to guide you through your flow.
See you on the mat.
Next class: Sunday 10am

Hands-on assists ✋may not be for everyone and that’s where props and verbal cues work wonderfully. For students who are happy to be physically touched, intelligent and thoughtful hands-on assists can be an incredibly powerful tool for helping to find better alignment, relaxation, stability, and extension.
✨
A favourite of many (myself included) is a Savasana assist, helping you to relax deeply at the end of a practice. Head massage anyone? 🙋♀️😍💫

I loved the Partner Yoga element of a recent training course I did. We also did a lovely seated back-to-back meditation. It’s actually really comforting sitting back to back with someone while meditating, your breath starts to sync, you feel supported physically and it’s just so relaxing. Thank you for being a great yoga/meditation partner. 😀

Further learning: 20 hrs CPD in Assists and Adjustments with the knowledgeable . I’m looking forward to putting all into practise with my lovely yogis. Especially my 1-2-1 clients where there’s more time to focus on personalised assists.

September marks a year since my first ever in-studio teaching class here at Zenw2. I had just completed my yoga teacher training and with only online teaching experience under my belt, I’m very grateful they took a chance on me.
✨
The community the team have built here is wonderful and growing every day. The best thing is seeing how ready students are to return to in-person classes (and to receive those lovely hands-on adjustments) again.
✨
So a big heartful thank you to anyone who has ever come to one of my classes, either online or in-person. With every student I meet, with every class I teach, I learn something new. And for that I’m very grateful.
✨
Here’s to the next 12 months. 🙌
