ALONIM CELEBRATES 40TH ANNIVERSARY WITH SPECIAL TEA PARTY
Alonim recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary by inviting past and present families and staff to a tea party. It was lovey to see so many faces including Rabbi Colin Eimer, Pamela Hartog, the first Head Teacher of Alonim Kindergarten and Roz Levenson to name a few. This was also a great opportunity to celebrate Alonim’s recent Ofsted report and to launch the rebranding of Alonim. Thank you to The Deputy Mayor of Barnet, The Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP and Cllr Ella Rose for joining us on this special occasion.
Also, a huge thank you to everyone who donated towards our new sign for the playground.
A big thank you also to Alonim teachers and volunteers for all their help to make this event such a success.

We've loved getting involved and raising money for Children in need and Mitzvah Day at nursery last week.
On Friday 18 November the nursery was filled with Pudsey activities - including a Pudsey bear hunt - for Children In Need. The children had a great time engaging in the different activities, promoting their fine and gross motor skills and exploring all seven areas of learning through their play. Thank you to all Alonim families for your support and donations. We raised £44.50 for Children in Need.
This year our Mitzvah Day project involved collecting pre-loved books for 'The Children's Book Project', a charity believes every child has the right to books and their aim is to tackle book poverty and give every child the opportunity to own their own book.
Thank you to all the Alonim families for their donations and involvement over this past weekend. Well done also to all the children that used their 'helping hands' for their Mitzvah's (good deeds).

This week children in our Sapling class visited The National Portrait Gallery. To begin their day they made firework paintings which they really enjoyed. Next they had fun taking part in a Jackson Po***ck themed project. To further extend their learning they walked around the different galleries to see some of the paintings on display.
It was a great day out and a bonus to bump into Paddington Bear and Gene Kelly’s ‘Singing in the Rain’ statue.
Thank you to all the families who joined us.

Remembrance Day
I’ll wear a little poppy,
As red as red can be,
To show that I remember
Those who fought for me.

WELCOME BACK
Thank you to all those families who joined us recently for our Alonim Leavers of 2022 Reunion.
This event was action packed with activities including making spooky spiders, autumn lanterns and healthy scary face snacks. It was also a chance to catch up with old friends.
It was so lovely to see everyone and hear how all the children have been settling into their new primary schools. Our doors are always open and we love seeing you, so if you are passing and are able to, please do come in and say hello.

ALONIM RATED 'GOOD' BY OFSTED
We are delighted to announce that the nursery achieved ‘Outstanding’ and ‘Good’ across all categories with no recommendations for changes.
Patsy Maltz, Head Teacher said: "We feel this report accurately reflects the wonderful experience children have at the nursery. We provide exemplary care and support for all pupils as well as a safe and enjoyable environment in which they can learn. It was wonderful to read that OFSTED noted ‘staff are remarkably attentive, caring and approachable’ and ‘they get to know children exceptionally well."
She continued: "OFSTED also noted that at Alonim ‘there is a culture of mutual respect, where diversity and inclusion are actively promoted. Alonim celebrates 40 years of caring and educating children this year and I am immensely proud to lead such a fantastic team."

HALF TERM HOLIDAY CLUB
Lots of fun this week with our autumnal activities. After making spooky spiders we went on an outing to our local Waitrose to buy ingredients for pumpkin bread, a delicious and healthy snack made by the children.

ENJOYING SUKKOT
This week we have enjoyed being in our sukkah. A sukkah is a booth or hut in which Jewish people eat, sleep and pray in during the week-long celebration of Sukkot. Keeping with tradition, our sukkah is a tent-like structure which represents the huts in which the Israelites dwelt during their 40 years of wandering in the desert after escaping from slavery in Egypt.
Our sukkah has three walls and a covering. The walls are sturdy enough to withstand the wind and the roof provides some shade and protection from the sun, but also allows the stars to be seen at night.
We have decorated the sukkah with artwork that represents fruit and plants. During Sukkot we plan to spend as much time in the sukkah as possible.
Weather permitting, we will eat our snack in the sukkah every day!
