Where were you on September 11, 2001?

Twenty-five years have passed since the terrorist attacks that changed America, and the world. Yet for so many, the memories of that horrific day remain vivid: where we were, who we were with, and how we felt as the events unfolded.

Today, we look back. We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, the courage of first responders, and a day none of us will ever forget.

FQM (French Quarter Magazine)’s Publisher was delighted to catch up with Chef Stéphane Grattier in Washington, D.C.; over coffee, conversation, and, naturally, a little taste of France.

Stéphane is the co-owner and Executive Chef-Boulanger at Boulangerie Christophe and a member of the Académie Culinaire de France. His craftsmanship has earned significant recognition, including a Gold Medal from the Académie and honors for his baguettes.

What I particularly appreciate is that his work represents something larger than excellent bread: the transmission of French savoir-faire and culture in America. As Stéphane once said when speaking about breadmaking, passion is essential to doing it well.

A lovely moment of friendship, French culture, and shared ideas. 🇫🇷 🇺🇸

A native of the South of France, he opened what became Las Vegas’ first French restaurant in 1976; a favorite of celebrities at the time and a true piece of old Vegas history.

It remains one of my favorite interviews from the early years of French Quarter Magazine.
