Mosques Around the World: Mesquita Omar Ibn Al-Khattab 🇧🇷

🕌 Located in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, the Mesquita Omar Ibn Al-Khattab is one of the largest and most significant mosques in Latin America. Inaugurated in 1983, it reflects the presence and contributions of the Arab and Muslim community in the region.

✨ Inspired by traditional Islamic architecture, the mosque features a striking white façade, a large central dome, and two elegant minarets. Its interior is adorned with intricate geometric patterns and calligraphy, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere for worshippers and visitors alike.

Learn about the book of Rumi's Masnavi that never actually existed. Institute of Islamic Studies alumna Dr. Eliza Tasbihi's new book, Hidden in Plain Sight, (De Gruyter Brill, 2025) examines the apocryphal "7th book" of Rumi's magnum opus. Why did a Turkish writer close to Ottoman Sultan Murad IV, İsmāʿīl Anqaravī (d. 1631), attribute this book to Rumi and write a commentary on verses Rumi never composed? Buy, borrow, or steal Eliza's book to find out!

Warmest wishes for Ramadan Kareem to all.
In Egypt when anyone was wished ‘Ramadan Kareem’ (may Ramadan be generous & noble) my teacher Sameer taught me to reply ‘wa Allahu akram’ - ‘Divine generosity is greater’ 💚 intentions & dua (supplications) for safety, connection, protection & nourishment for all, those nearby and those far away.
