❤️ “This academic year has been an absolute joy in my life. I love VES.”

Meet Luis, one of around 50 wonderful volunteers who make Vineyard English School (VES) happen!

is a community project of Croydon Vineyard, offering free English classes, a warm community and practical support to internationals living in south London. 🌍

Every week, hundreds of student sessions are received - helping people learn English, grow in confidence, build relationships and take good next steps.

But we’re seeing that it’s not just students who are being blessed ❤️

Luis recently sent us a lovely message reflecting on his experience of teaching:

“I want to say THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to teach… this kind of serving can really change you for the better.”

This is something of the heart behind VES - a community where everyone receives, everyone gives and together we see lives transformed.

Thank you Luis! For the energy, care, skill and commitment you bring week in, week out! ❤️

A big VES happy birthday to our man Manuel! 🇵🇹🎉

Manuel first came to VES as a student, but before long he stepped into serving and became part of the team - a journey we absolutely love to see.

These days, he’s one of the first through the doors each morning, helping set up, overseeing our hospitality and making sure everything runs smoothly. He’s become an integral part of VES.

But it’s about much more than what Manuel does. He brings humour, warmth, fun, a fantastic laugh and a whole lot of life to the school - and we’re very grateful for him.

Happy birthday, Manuel! 🥳🎂 Thank you for all you bring to VES!! ❤️

VES is back! 📚❤️

Such a great first morning back with our Beginners classes today - full tables, brilliant conversations, the crèche in full flow, and a fantastic team welcoming and serving people from across the world 🙌

Our mission remains simple:

👋 WELCOME people warmly
📚 SERVE through good English classes
🤝 SIGNPOST people towards great next steps

We loved seeing so many familiar faces again - and plenty of new ones too.

Tomorrow it’s the turn of our upper-level classes, and we’re looking forward to another great morning!

Huge thank you to our wonderful VES team for making today happen. ❤️

Wonderful lunch today to mark Refugee Week at Vineyard English School

Huge thanks to Bluetouch for organising, to Leyla Fey for a fantastic violin performance, and to Danny & Sherry for cooking such superb food. It was also brilliant to have representatives with us from Migrant Help and Reedham Children's Trust, alongside additional dishes from the wonderful Good Food Matters Charity.

Brilliant atmosphere in the room - full of conversation, music, food and friendship. It was lovely to break bread together!
