Children brought the story The Very Silly Shark to life through story-based play. Today the children enjoyed playing outdoors, taking part in lots of free play using different toys. They explored the environment confidently and chose activities that interested them. The children were using their imagination by making flower soup in pans, engaging in creative and role play. There was lots of running and climbing, supporting their physical development and coordination. Children were developing their social skills, communication, and confidence through active outdoor play.

Today the children enjoyed playing in a group using wooden props. The resources included different colours, plates, shapes, and sizes, including mushrooms, and all toys were made from wood.

The children explored how to use the objects, thinking about their own ways to play and use their imagination. They practiced sharing and taking turns while playing together.

This activity also supported their understanding of language, as they talked about colours, shapes, and sizes, and followed simple instructions during group play.

Today was a colourful day full of messy play and exploration. The children enjoyed sensory activities using chickpeas, scooping and pouring.

They also explored teddy bears in different colours and sizes, taking part in sorting bears by colour and size. Some children named the bears after their friends from the setting, showing imagination and strong social connections.

The children were able to focus on the activity for a very long time, demonstrating good levels of concentration and engagement.

This play supported their sensory development, early maths skills (sorting and comparing), communication, and positive relationships in line with the EYFS framework.

During play time, the children enjoyed a range of exciting sensory play activities. They explored a tent with colourful lights, creating a calm and engaging space that captured their interest. The children were happy and had lots of fun as they played with different materials indoors.

They also took part in group play, sharing and interacting with one another. Dressing up encouraged imaginative play, and the session ended with a fun disco where the children danced and laughed together.

This play time supported the children’s sensory development, social skills, creativity, and confidence through play.
