An incredible achievement by our Operations Director, Wenol Messham, who, alongside Meera, successfully completed the Alzheimerโs Society Trek26 London.
After 26 tough miles, tired legs, and an unforgettable challenge, they crossed the finish line having raised almost 75% of their fundraising target for dementia support and research. An outstanding achievement for such an important cause.
We at The Health & Safety Group could not be prouder of Wenol and Meera for their effort and determination.
Although the walk is complete, the fundraising is not. You can still show your support and help push the campaign to its 100% donation target, funding vital research, treatment and care for families affected by dementia.
Every donation makes a difference: https://lnkd.in/eyzQTvmf

๐ง๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฒ is tomorrow, and our Operations Director, ๐ช๐ฒ๐ป๐ผ๐น ๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ต๐ฎ๐บ, is taking on a ๐ฎ๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ธ for an incredible cause. It is not too late to donate.
The Alzheimerโs Society Trek26 London raises vital funds for Alzheimerโs Society, supporting people living with dementia today while also funding research into earlier diagnosis and treatments that can slow progression. Progress is happening, but only with continued funding.
Every ๐ฏ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐, someone in the UK develops dementia. It is now the UKโs biggest killer, with cases expected to reach ๐ญ.๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป by ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฐ๐ฌ if a cure is not found.
Your donation to Alzheimerโs Society helps provide essential support services for families right now, while also funding research that could change or even save future lives.
If you can, please support the cause: https://www.justgiving.com/page/trek26awnty?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL
Every contribution helps protect memories, keep families together for longer, and bring hope where it is needed most.

๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฏ ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐๐๐ฒ๐, someone in the UK develops dementia. Dementia is now the UKโs ๐ฏ๐ถ๐ด๐ด๐ฒ๐๐ ๐ธ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ. At the current rate, there will be ๐ญ.๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ผ๐ฝ๐น๐ฒ living with dementia in the UK by 2040. Unless a cure can be found.
๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐น๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ด๐ป๐ผ๐๐ถ๐
A nationwide trial is now assessing blood tests that could diagnose Alzheimerโs years earlier, with the potential to reach the NHS within five years. These tests could be groundbreaking because current treatments work best before significant damage is done. Earlier diagnosis means more time, more independence, more life.
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ
Alzheimer's Research UK is focused on finding a cure through scientific research. They work to understand how dementia develops, detect it earlier, and ultimately prevent it. And real progress is happening... drugs such as lecanemab and donanemab help to slow Alzheimerโs when caught early. The benefits are modest but this is a shift from managing decline to changing the course of the disease.
๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต
There are now over 180 clinical trials testing more than 130 potential drugs worldwide, targeting not just symptoms, but the disease itself. Gene therapies are already in clinical trials for certain types of dementia, aiming to halt the disease at its root. Progress is real, but it is expensive. Dementia research takes time and sustained funding to reach patients. History shows us when funding increases, progress accelerates. Cancer survival has doubled in 50 years. HIV is now manageable. Dementia is at that same turning point.
๐ฌ๐ผ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฝ
Whilst a cure is being sought, you can help provide the care to those affected. ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐น๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ'๐ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ supports people living with dementia through a national dementia support line and local services for diagnosis, care and daily life.
The Health and Safety Groupโs Ops Director, Wenol Messham, will be taking part in the ๐๐น๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟโ๐ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฒ.
Trek26It is a ๐ฎ๐ฒ ๐บ๐ถ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฎ๐น๐ธ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฎ, helping raise funds for ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐น๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ'๐ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฒ๐๐

๐ Today is World Health Day
A moment to recognise the people at the heart of health and social care and the role they play every single day.
This year is a reminder that good health starts with good care.
And good care starts with confident, capable, and supported staff.
At The Health & Safety Group, thatโs where we focus our efforts.
Through our training, we support organisations and individuals to deliver care that is:
โ
Safe and compliant
โ
Compassionate and person centred
โ
Confident in responding to real world situations
โ
Built on understanding, not assumption
Because behind every training session is something bigger
a patient, a resident, a person who deserves the right care at the right time.
We also recognise that learning is not just about knowledge.
Itโs about giving people the confidence to act, communicate, and make decisions that genuinely improve outcomes.
World Health Day is a reminder of why this matters.
Not just today, but in every interaction, every shift, every moment of care.
