Our first Battle of the Bars took place this week 🔥🎤

It was a powerful celebration of rap, lyric writing and beatmaking, bringing together students from across the borough for an evening full of energy, creativity and collaboration.

Big talent, big vibes!💥

Last night 14 bands rocked our Battle of the Bands, leaving the judges with a very tough decision.

Congratulations to our 2026 champions Ultramarine (Frederick Bremer) for their memorable take on Arctic Monkeys' "Snap Out of It";

And to our runners-up: J and the Rags (Willowfield) for a brilliant rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s "Silver Spring",

And Hate the Radio (Walthamstow School for Girls) for a powerful cover of Rage Against the Machine’s "Wake Up".

14 bands, epic performances — congrats to Ultramarine, our 2026 champions!

🤩 BATTLE OF THE BANDS IS TONIGHT! 🤩
⚡Watch LIVE online from 7.30pm at⚡
https://www.youtube.com/

Our annual competition invites bands from Waltham Forest secondary schools to compete to become the Waltham Forest Battle of the Bands winner.

It gives young people the opportunity to perform and receive supportive feedback from a panel of experts from the music industry.

When they take part in the competition, young people step onto the stage and become stars for the night, giving them a performance platform that builds their confidence and musicianship.

Since starting in 2013, the competition has supported over 700 pupils performing in over 140 acts. The majority have formed at their secondary schools, supported by their music teachers, and rehearsing in their lunch breaks.
