It was a powerful celebration of rap, lyric writing and beatmaking, bringing together students from across the borough for an evening full of energy, creativity and collaboration.

Our annual competition invites bands from Waltham Forest secondary schools to compete to become the Waltham Forest Battle of the Bands winner.

It gives young people the opportunity to perform and receive supportive feedback from a panel of experts from the music industry.

When they take part in the competition, young people step onto the stage and become stars for the night, giving them a performance platform that builds their confidence and musicianship.

Since starting in 2013, the competition has supported over 700 pupils performing in over 140 acts. The majority have formed at their secondary schools, supported by their music teachers, and rehearsing in their lunch breaks.
