Music isn't something that happens on the side at Sydenham & Dulwich Girls, it is woven into daily life. With over 200 weekly lessons delivered by 15 specialist visiting teachers, we cover all orchestral instruments and voice.

This year, 79 of our girls from Year 3 to Year 10 sat ABRSM music exams, with instruments spanning flute, guitar, musical theatre singing and more. Every pupil passed, and an impressive 32% received a Merit or Distinction.

Whether it's a first tentative recital on the piano or a confident flute performance, these lessons and examinations teach our girls so much more than technique. They build discipline, resilience and the quiet confidence that comes from mastering something difficult. Skills for life, both on and off the stage.

Come experience the energy for yourself on Saturday 26 September for our Whole School Open Day, running until 3pm.

Confidence isn’t something we hope our girls stumble into, it’s central to who we are, and to our Fear Nothing ethos.

Every week, pupils from Reception through to Senior School take part in LAMDA classes in Acting, Verse and Prose. This year, an incredible 98% of participants achieved a Distinction, with many Senior School pupils securing AS Level-equivalent qualifications, before they’ve even sat their GCSEs!

These classes teach our girls skills for life. They gain confidence in themselves, learn to speak with clarity, articulate complex ideas, and of course, fall in love with poetry, plays and language.

Ms Borge has been with us for over 30 years, helping girls build key skills alongside consistently high results. She now teaches three Junior School pupils whose mothers she taught back in the 1990s!

We are delighted to have been commended in the Independent Girls' School of the Year category at this year's Independent Schools of the Year Awards!

As we close another busy and rewarding academic year, it's wonderful to look back at all the hard work our pupils, staff and families have put into shaping and strengthening our brilliant community of sparky girls.

This recognition speaks directly to the curiosity, resilience and kindness we see from our girls every day, and to the dedication of those who support them on every step of their individual journey.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this year. Your commitment and ambition help make Sydenham & Dulwich Girls so extraordinary.
