Society Speakers

Society Speakers We are a not-for-profit public speaking club in Central London, that meets twice monthly. Most guests come by themselves and are always made to feel welcome.

We offer all the benefits of a Toastmasters club - a proven educational programme, a friendly place to practice and receive constructive feedback. Once you feel ready you can then get extra support enabling you to prepare, practice and perfect a speech on a topics of your choice. You are then ready to deliver it to a real audience and start to make a difference! We welcome anyone to come along as a guest to see what our meetings are like. Whether you are a nervous newcomer to public speaking or a seasoned 'pro' you can learn and develop at Society Speakers. You don't have to speak if you don't want to but many guests do. Even if it's just to introduce yourself for a few seconds you will have made the first step to becoming a more confident speaker! We meet every 1st & 3rd Wednesday of the month from 7pm - 9pm at the Indian YMCA, 41 Fitzroy Square, Bloomsbury, London W1T 6AQ. The nearest tube is Goodge Street and Warren Street, with Tottenham Court Road, Oxford Circus and Great Portland Street stations only a short walk away.

A wonderful evening delivering my ‘Sculpt Your Story’ workshop at Society Speakers in London last night. Loved seeing so many people step up to share their own stories.

Last month I was lucky enough to be able to compete at the semi-finals of the International Speech Contest 2024 in Anaheim, California. I didn’t win.

On this occasion, the fun I had on stage and the message I wanted to deliver, far outweighed the result of the contest.

I enjoyed these seven and a half minutes on stage more than any other I’ve experienced. Far more than any competition i've ever won.

Thanks to everyone at ,District 91, Toastmasters International UK & Ireland, Region 10 Toastmasters International and beyond who offered their unwavering support and joined me on this journey.

And of course, the biggest thanks of all goes to my youngest daughter, Eloise.

Eloise not only featured in the speech and allowed me to tell ‘her’ story – she also provided invaluable feedback and tips along the way.

Pretty soon, this stage will be hers…
