Composite vs Amalgam – What’s Your Pick for the ORE?

Every ORE Part 2 candidate must be confident with both materials. Each has its strengths and its clinical challenges.

Amalgam
✔ Examiner’s long-time favorite
✔ Less sensitive to moisture control
✔ Strong and durable
• Still tested in Class I and II preps
• Technique-sensitive for outline, retention, and depth
• Esthetics are limited

Composite
✔ Highly esthetic and modern
✔ Ideal for anterior and cervical restorations
✔ Requires excellent moisture control
• Technique-sensitive bonding
• Preferred in patient-facing areas
• Tested in Class III, IV, V, and VI preps

Key Takeaway:
✔ You must understand both
✔ You must be able to prep both
✔ And you must practice both under exam-like conditions

Join our 3-Day Manikin Course
• Full training on all ORE 2 prep types
• Focused demos and hands-on guidance
• Real-time feedback to boost exam confidence

Visit simsdental.co.uk to enroll and start mastering both techniques today.
