On 28 of February, the singers and violinists of Mi Minor Harmonix had the honour of being invited to perform at the official celebration of the Bulgarian National Day in London. 🇧🇬
The event was supported by the State Agency for Bulgarians Abroad under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, which works to support Bulgarian communities around the world. The celebration was attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Kingdom and supported by established Bulgarian businesses in London.
I am extremely proud to share that the violin students – Arin, Maiya, Nicole, Lavin and Beatrice – opened the official concert programme with a group performance of the Bulgarian National Anthem.
What made this moment even more special is that not all of them are of Bulgarian origin, yet their dedication, hard work and support for their teacher deeply moved the audience. The entire hall rose to their feet, and the moment was even highlighted in Bulgarian newspapers and national media.
The rest of the students presented a beautiful programme of solo and duet performances:
🎶 Beatrice performed a song dedicated to the beauty of Bulgaria.
🌹 Iren and Hrisian sang a lovely duet dedicated to the world-renowned Bulgarian Rose.
⛰ Krasimira and Beatrice transported the audience to the Rhodope Mountains with “Pustono Ludo”.
🌾 Ivana presented the Northern Bulgarian folk song “Kitka Ti Padna Deno”.
🌊 Kristina brought rhythms from Eastern Bulgaria and the seaside with “Zalulyala Se Kalinka”.
🎸 Alex took us to the rise of rock music in Bulgaria with the song “Mozhe Bi”.
☁️ Dalia soloed the final piece, the beloved “Oblache Le Byalo”, dedicated to all Bulgarians living abroad.
The trio Ivana, Ana and Maria, performed two beautiful polyphonic songs – one from the Rhodope region and one from Thrace.
We were also honoured to be supported by two outstanding musicians: the renowned Bulgarian clarinetist Boyan Ivanov, an official Zelmer artist, and the talented Cypriot guitarist Saki Ahmet Sakalli, whose musicianship added a wonderful dimension to the evening.
I couldn’t be prouder of these young musicians, who through their talent, dedication and love for music help carry the spirit of Bulgaria far beyond its borders. ✨

As 2025 comes to an end, my heart is full of gratitude and pride. 🙏🏼💜
This year has been an incredibly successful and inspiring journey for my violin and singing students.
We celebrated achievements at competitions, festivals, concerts and musicals, and watched so many hard-working musicians shine on stage.
But beyond the trophies and certificates, it’s the small steps that matter most. Many students stepped onto a stage for the very first time this year a huge and brave moment that deserves just as much applause.
We worked through shyness, nerves, and self-doubt, built confidence piece by piece, scale by scale, song by song. Exams were a great success, with everyone progressing to higher grades and, most importantly growing in confidence and self-belief.
I am so proud of every single student for showing up, practising, being courageous, and trusting the process. Your progress, whether big or small, is a true achievement.
A big “Thank You” to my family that is always there and supporting our activities and also every single event we’re part of! 🙏🏼🩵
As we welcome 2026, I wish for continued growth, confidence, joy in music, exciting performances, new goals, and many more moments where music brings us together. 🎶
Here’s to another year of learning, dreaming, and stepping forward one note at a time.
Happy New Year! ✨🎻🎤

🎶✨ A new school year is here!
The 2024/25 season was so wonderfully busy that I didn’t get to share as many updates as I would have liked. As we begin the 2025/26 school year, I’ll be posting more regularly – starting with some highlights from events we were honoured to take part in last year. 💫
Back in April 2025, my students from Mi Minor Harmonix were invited to perform at the International Conference “Artificial Intelligence in Education: The Path to Innovative Teaching and Learning”, held in London and organized by the Bulgarian Sunday School “Naiden Gerov.”
This inspiring forum brought together over 60 educators, directors, and participants from across the UK, Europe, North America, and beyond. It was held under the patronage of Vice President Iliana Iotova with the support of the Bulgarian Embassy in the UK, alongside several wonderful partner organizations.
🎹🎤 My students were proud and honoured to perform alongside other talented children at this international stage – a beautiful celebration of music, education, and cultural exchange.
I can’t wait to share more of these special moments with you this year – stay tuned for more highlights! 💛

🎶✨ End-of-Year Concert – July 6th ✨🎶
What an absolutely beautiful day we had on the 6th of July celebrating our students and all they’ve achieved this year! 💫
A huge thank you to all my incredible students for their performances — each and every one of you brought so much heart, talent, and energy to the stage. Even with some of you juggling other commitments and competitions, you still gave your best and made the day truly special. I’m so proud of your progress and growth — both musically and personally — over the past year. 🎻🎤🎼
We’ve had a year full of highlights: successful exams, multiple festival awards, scholarships, school placements, musical theatre roles, prestigious performance invitations (including at the Bulgarian Embassy!), and even one student heading to Oxford University with music. What a journey it’s been! 🌟
To the parents — thank you for your ongoing support, trust, and belief in your children’s musical journey. You are such a vital part of everything we achieve together.
A very special thank you to the amazing people who helped make the concert day run smoothly:
💐 My wonderful mum, Ana, and my brother, Vass — thank you for helping set up the venue and preparing the snacks and treats that everyone enjoyed so much.
🎧 My wonderful fiancé and musician Ahmet Sakalli — thank you for providing the sound equipment and making sure everyone sounded fantastic on the mic and with their backing tracks.
🎈 Zlati (Krassi’s mum) — your balloon decorations were absolutely beautiful and brought so much colour and joy to the room.
🎂 Zlati (Hrisian’s mum) — thank you for the lovely cake you made for the students — it was as thoughtful as it was delicious!
And finally, a heartfelt thank you to Ivana, Petya and all the parents for the lovely words and the thoughtful gifts at the end of the concert — it truly means a lot to me. 💖
I feel so lucky to work with such a talented, supportive, and passionate community. Here's to a summer full of music, and even more to come in the year ahead!
With gratitude and love,
Maria

Thank you for all the hard work, dedication, and heart you put into making this celebration happen. Thanks to you, we felt Bulgaria closer than ever, even from afar. 🇧🇬🎶

🌟Proud Teacher Moment🌟
What a weekend to remember at the Miele Canto music competition! ✨
Four of my talented students took the stage — and for some, it was their very first time competing — and they truly rose to the occasion.
🎻 Amelia (violin) — 2nd Prize 🥈
🎻 Liam (violin) — 3rd Prize 🥉
🎻 Lavin (violin) — 3rd Prize 🥉

So proud of each of you — not just for what you achieved, but for how you got there. Keep reaching for the high notes (and hitting them)! 🎶
