Two students. Two completely different approaches to vocabulary. Who do you think gets the higher IELTS score? 🤔

Flavia memorises high-level words from lists.
Nadia learns a few natural phrases from native speakers.

Same exam. Very different results.

Saying “”good”” in every IELTS answer is quietly limiting your score. 👇

These three words do the job better — but only in the right context:

Beneficial → when something has a positive impact
Valuable → when something is worth a lot — time, skills, experience
Useful → when something helps you do something

💡 It’s not about using harder words. It’s about using the right word at the right time. That’s what improves your Lexical Resource score.

The difference between a basic IELTS Speaking answer and a great one isn’t grammar. It’s this. 👇

Compare these three ways of saying the same thing:
⚪ “We start our trip early.”
🔵 “We set off early to avoid the traffic.”
🟢 “We usually head off first thing to beat the traffic.”

Same idea. But look at the range — the natural phrases, the detail, the flow.

That’s what Lexical Resource sounds like in a real exam.

💡 It’s not about complicated words. It’s about expressing yourself naturally and precisely.

💬 Can you use “set off” or “head off” in a sentence? Drop it in the comments.

This one-word mistake is costing IELTS students marks every single day 👇

❌ “”My holiday was very funny.””
The examiner heard that and immediately lost confidence in your English.

Here’s the difference:
Funny = something that made you laugh. “”The film was funny.””
Fun = something enjoyable. “”The holiday was really fun.””

One word. Completely different meaning.
And this comes up constantly — holidays, weekends, experiences. It’s one of the most common mistakes in IELTS Speaking Part 1 and Part 2.
💡 The fix takes 5 seconds to remember. The marks it saves you? Worth a lot more.

4 words that instantly sound more natural at Band 7+ level. 👇
Most students describe ideas correctly — but in a way that sounds basic to the examiner.
These 4 words change that. They’re the kind of vocabulary that comes up naturally in high-scoring answers—especially in Speaking Part 3 when topics get more complex.

Holistic ➡ looking at everything together, not just one part
Accessible ➡ available and open to everyone
Transparent ➡ open and honest, nothing hidden
Inclusive ➡ welcoming and involving everyone

💡 It’s not about dropping big words randomly. It’s about having the right word ready for the right topic — and using it accurately.

“If you’ve memorised these phrases for IELTS Speaking, delete them. 😬

“”Practice makes perfect””
“”Last but not least…””
“”It is my personal opinion that…””

The examiner has heard these thousands of times.
And when they hear them... they know you’re reciting, not speaking.

That’s the difference between Band 5 and Band 7+. It’s not about saying smarter things. It’s about sounding like a real person, not a textbook.

💡 It’s not about memorised phrases ➡ it’s about natural, authentic language the examiner actually wants to hear.

💬 Comment “”Say”” and I’ll send you the full list as a PDF.

The mistake that’s quietly keeping students stuck at Band 6. 👇

It’s not grammar. It’s not fluency.

It’s using big, complicated words... incorrectly.

IELTS rewards natural, accurate vocabulary. Not impressive-sounding words used in the wrong place.

Watch this before your next speaking practice. 👆

“”I’m very interesting in my hometown.”” ⁉️
One word. Completely changes the meaning.

Here’s the difference:
Interested = how you feel
“”I was really interested in the lecture.””

Interesting = what something is like
“”The professor was really interesting.””

It’s a small fix... but mistakes like this directly affect your Grammar score in IELTS Speaking.
💡 The examiner notices every time.

💬 Can you write a sentence using both words correctly? Drop it in the comments.

Most IELTS students only prepare vocabulary 🤭
The ones who reach Band 7+ also prepare idioms.

Using idioms naturally in your speaking exam shows the examiner you have a real command of English... not just memorised words.
And weather idioms? They come up more than you think.

Swipe for 3 you can start using today. ➡️

If you can’t compare in IELTS Speaking, you’re leaving marks on the table 😏

Comparison comes up constantly... in Part 2 when you describe places, people, or experiences, and in Part 3 when the examiner asks for your opinion.

And most students default to the same basic structure every time.

The examiner is listening for grammatical range. The more ways you can express the same idea, the better your score.

Here are 5 comparison structures you can start using today ➡️
💡 This directly improves both your Grammar and Fluency scores — two of the four IELTS Speaking criteria.
