AUTUMN 2026: MAKE YOUR OWN CARRY CASE

Deadline to apply: 01/10/2026

A brilliant opportunity to spend five Saturdays learning traditional woodworking skills at the Building Crafts College , a specialist college dedicated to keeping high quality hand skills and heritage crafts alive.

Students will design and construct their own wooden carry case from scratch, learning how to measure, cut and prepare timber, work confidently with hand tools and create traditional dovetail joints, before assembling and finishing their own piece to take home.

A practical introduction to woodworking with a real focus on learning through making and creating something designed to last.

AUTUMN 2026: ARCHITECTURAL MODEL MAKING

A unique opportunity to experience architectural practice first hand this autumn at RSHP , gaining access to a professional architectural environment and specialist, industry leading knowledge.

The workshop will introduce participants to both traditional modelmaking and digital technology, from cutting, assembling and finishing physical models to developing digital 3D models and producing components through 3D printing.

For anyone curious about architecture, design or making, this is a chance to explore the profession from the inside, develop practical skills and discover possibilities for the future.

AUTUMN 2026: ENAMELLING

For this incredible upcoming workshop this fall, at the wonderful The Goldsmiths' Centre students will work with silver, copper and brass, developing skills in shaping, hammering, sawing, soldering and texturing before exploring the beautiful process of enamelling, where powdered glass is fused to metal to create rich, durable surfaces.

Paul and Tomiko Ravn are true masters of their crafts, and the chance to learn from such proficient makers of this technique is at the heart of what TCDT aims to offer young people.

SUMMER 2026: PLASTER CARVING

Fabulous works from our students who joined the highly experienced TCDT tutor Adam Williamson Williamson at Bow Arts Studios to explore the tactile and intricate world of plaster carving. Working with geometric and biomorphic patterns inspired by traditions from the Islamic world and beyond, they learned relief and piercing carving techniques, experimented with plaster casting and mould making, and had the opportunity to work with traditional Moroccan chisels.

SUMMER 2026: CAREERS IN FOOD DAY WITH FORTNUM & MASON

Applications close: 23 August 2026

In this amazing upcoming workshop, students will be working in teams alongside a Chef, Buyer and Marketeer, participants will develop their own hypothetical food product, from the initial idea through to the final pitch. With a little Apprentice-style competition thrown in, they’ll have to make their case and convince the room that their idea belongs on the shelves of Fortnum & Mason.

A fun, fast-paced day combining creativity, teamwork, food and an insight into the many different careers that come together behind one of London’s most iconic institutions.

SUMMER 2026: MARBLING

Applications close: 9 August 2026

Watching patterns emerge and drift across the surface of water is one of the most captivating experiences in traditional craftsmanship.

In this three-day workshop at Cockpit , students will explore the ancient art of marbling with TCDT tutor Rachel O’Connell Rachel O’Connell • Mixed Media Marbling Artist + Leatherworker , whose three decades of experience have helped preserve and reimagine this remarkable heritage craft. Drawing on Japanese Suminagashi, Turkish Ebru and European marbling traditions, participants will create their own marbled papers before transforming them into hand-bound notebooks and leather-covered journals.

A wonderful opportunity to discover a centuries-old craft where creativity, patience and experimentation come together in beautifully unexpected ways.
