Creative Awakenings Creative Awakenings believe that no person is irredeemable! We're passionate about helping our community and using our collective skills to help.

Creative Awakenings aims to help people in need. We use drama, music and movement as a means to help the child facilitate their own journey by using their imagination, creativity and character. We start by looking at some of the basic areas that could be troubling a child/teen and begin to build a safe space within a group. There they can begin to explore and think about how, what they do and how they do it, has an impact upon themselves, other people and their environment. Between the two co-founders we have over thirty years professional drama experience. Dramatherapy, child counseling skills and teaching English as a second language. We have seen first hand how drama helps with socialization, reintegration and education in the workshop environment. The children learn new skills, understanding of themselves and take that awareness into their everyday lives. This newfound self- belief can positively impact their homes, which positively impacts their school learning environment. Our Patron – Dr Kwame Kwei-Armah OBE

Kwame is Artistic Director of Baltimore Centerstage, the State Theatre of Maryland, and Chancellor of the University of the Arts London, Europe’s largest provider of education in the arts. He previously served as Artistic Director of the historic 3rdWorld Festival of Black Arts and Culture held in Dakar, Senegal, also directing its opening ceremony. He is an Associate Artist of the Royal National Theatre of Gt. Britain, and previously Associate Artist at Congo Square Theatre Company in Chicago, USA. He has served as Writer in Residence for the Bristol Old Vic and BBC Radio Drama.

It's always a bitter sweet moment when a course we've been running comes to the end. It's always a privilege to work with such wonderful people. Today we finished a Dynamic Job Interview Technique Course, which we partnered with the charity LAAMIGA to run. And yet again we finished with fewer clients than we started with, as some of the lovely ladies were offered jobs during the course. Job done I'd say.

Laamiga offer great support, and have wonderful network of mentors and coaches to help their clients, It's been an absolute pleasure working with them.
