5 key themes from this year’s report:

1. The skills gap is now universal
Over 9 in 10 organisations are operating with at least one critical gap.
2. AI readiness vs workforce readiness
83% say they’re prepared for AI, yet AI and automation remain the number one skills shortfall.
3. Trade disruption is already hitting hard
60% have experienced moderate to severe financial and operational impact from tariffs and global instability.
4. Compliance knowledge is too concentrated
Just 7% believe trade compliance expertise is spread effectively across the business.
5. Training investment isn’t keeping pace
Budgets remain low, measurement is limited, and the cost of inaction is rising.

As our CEO Sam Pemberton puts it; “The organisations that will come through strongest are those investing in their people right now.”

Sam will also be discussing the findings from this report at the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium in Orlando and Barcelona next month.

The message is clear: closing the gap between technology investment and workforce capability is no longer optional.

Introducing Kelly-Anne!👩🏾‍💻 For this month's Employee Spotlight, we wanted to take a moment to highlight Kelly-Anne and the work she does at Skill Dynamics. We asked her about her day-to-day role as a Senior Support Specialist and her advice for others...

⭐ How long have you been at Skill Dynamics? What does your role as a Senior Support Specialist look like?

"I have been working with Skill Dynamics since May 2020, nearly six years.

As a Senior Support Specialist, I support learners with platform-related questions, manage learner access, assist with reporting and certificates, and serve as the main point of contact between customers and internal teams to ensure requests are handled smoothly. I also provide proactive solutions to create a positive experience for learners by handling complex support inquiries, resolving issues efficiently, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction."

⭐ Since joining, what have you found to be your favourite part of your role?

"My favorite part of my role is helping learners/clients feel genuinely supported, valued, and confident in their journey. I truly enjoy being there for them, guiding them through challenges, and making sure they know they’re not alone. Being able to help people succeed and make their experience positive is what I love most about my work."

⭐ What advice would you give to someone looking to get involved in a role like yours?

"Be curious, patient, and ready to help. Listen to the people you support, understand what they need, and solve problems quickly. Work well with others, and most importantly, enjoy helping people succeed, that’s what makes this role so rewarding."

⭐ Outside of work, how do you like to spend your time?

"Outside of work, I try to be a very present mom to my two boys and my six-month-old baby. Having three boys can be demanding, but I always strive to rise to the challenge of this most important role.

I’ve also been involved in scouting since I was 13, and now as a scout leader, I do my best to help my young scouts feel valued and encourage them to do their best.

I enjoy reading, hiking, camping, and family activities. Living just five minutes from the sea, I love ending my day by watching the sunset, it’s my favorite moment to pause and recharge."
