💚 I’ve wanted to share with my clients what’s been happening this week- this is why my teaching went quiet all week 👀.

This has been the most incredible week! I haven’t known how to share it - got the call to be on standby for Babs in Beetlejuice and been rehearsing and shadowing, and watching the show all week incase I needed to jump in.

What an amazing moment. 🫶🏼

You never know what’s going to happen in this industry. It can be hard for that reason but also super special! 🥰

Keep going - keep believing- ya never know what’s around the corner. 👀

Huge thanks to the cast for being so welcoming! And everyone for their help this week! And the powers that be who got me in x

Awesome day in the studio! Kicking things off with a two hour sesh with another client from Taiwan! 🤩

Chuang is over for the week and brought her translator to the session. We did a LOT of mix belting technique.

We worked for two hours:

The first hour was getting to know her voice - warming up - exercises and honing in on technique. Then we spent the next part working on material and putting technique into practice.

What an awesome day! And how magical that Instagram has brought me to meet clients from Taiwan! Thanks 何芸娜 Una Ho for recommending me!

It’s so important to get to know your instrument. ❤️

Listen to your body and do what you need for YOUR track. When I was just starting out in the industry I didn’t know that this would help me.

I remember doing the warm up for Mamma Mia and asking the legend that is ‘Marcus’ (the MD) for a longer one. He was always so kind to me and would ask what I needed because he could tell I needed more of a warm up when I was tired. But now I would not panic about this and just do my own extra thing, purely because I’ve learnt what my instrument can do over the years.

And every day is different. Sometimes I don’t need more warming up and sometimes I can use the show to warm up slowly.

It’s so important to get to know your instrument. 🎶

Mentoring singers has changed my life. Soooo happy to be back in the studio properly!

You’re all amazing! Keep up the good work. When the silence gets louder. Take a break. Sing for yourself. Push yourself out of your comfort zone. Get prepped for when the day comes 👀, or do all of these!

With wicked auditions round the corner 👀- throw back to this quick fix tip! 💚

Ofc this is advanced and if you’ve not got the foundation strong it will be harder to achieve so do NOT panic if this is too hard just now. It’s doable for everyone. ☺️

I’ve had singers go from no belt at all to becoming musical theatre belters! True story! 🔥

So if you’re thinking this is not achievable for you- think again!

Scary coming back to the show after being off for your voice! Can you relate when you’re in a highly demanding singing role?

We are ALL human and need rest. But we feel highly pressured to recover fast in this industry. Because we want to be back asap.

I couldn’t breathe properly for a good few days and my ribs were extremely tight. So breath control on stage was tough for a good week back.

This is me preparing for the first day back after illness.

MY RECENT VOCAL STRUGGLE ⚠️

I’ve recently been putting rest into practice myself! I had a cold- turned into a chest infection and had an asthma flare up. I couldn’t breathe some nights when it got really bad! Called 111 and got help. Wasn’t sure what was going on!

But luckily I can feel when my body says NO. It’s time to go off the show girl.

I took the Monday off the show. Went back Tuesday as my voice sounded good. Then went in Wednesday and my voice was tighter and my asthma was bad! During Act 2 I thought “OH GOD” my voice wants to be silent now.

Luckily I know how to pull back and used my knowledge and technique to place my singing differently.

I then took the rest of the week off. And I had friends in! Gutting but the show will still go ahead because of AMAZING covers and swings.

Shout out to THEM!

I know if I tried to go back on a double show day, it’s not worth doing one and then leaving. It’s not worth pushing through to my day off. Because what do we want?

LONGEVITY ‼️

Sending all the love singers! 🎶 And remember it’s not worth it pushing through - you’ll only make recovery time longer.
