At the Integra EMEIA Regional Conference 2026, hosted by ARQ Group, Dr Vanessa Borg, Chief Operating Officer at ARQ Group and Chief Communications Officer at Integra International, explored the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of independent professional services firms.

From talent shortages and evolving partnership models to increasing market consolidation, firms must proactively plan for the successful transfer of leadership, client relationships, and institutional knowledge to the next generation.

The discussion highlighted a clear message: the firms that remain independent and successful over the next decade will not necessarily be the largest, but those that build strong succession pathways, invest in future leaders, and embrace innovation. She also pointed to the distinct advantage available to Integra International members in leveraging the network's collective strength. Through collaboration, benchmarking, talent development, and strategic partnerships, member firms can build stronger succession pathways while preserving their independence.

Key themes included proportionate and risk-based regulation, the role of technology and AI in compliance, and how smaller jurisdictions can compete through quality, innovation, agility, and specialisation.

At Integra International's EMEIA Regional Conference Malta 2026, hosted by ARQ Group, the panel on "Geopolitics and its Impact on Global Business" brought together leaders from the legal, financial, investment and hospitality sectors for a thought-provoking discussion on the challenges and opportunities shaping our world.

Moderated by Dr Christian Farrugia, Partner at FFF Legal, the panel featured David Borg, Partner at ARQ Group; Dr Ana Beysoylu, CEO of Brun Lubert Corporation, a New York-based global asset management and private credit firm; and Reuben Xuereb, Executive Chairman of QP Design, part of the Corinthia Group.
