St. Aubyn's School

St. Aubyn's School Welcome to St. Aubyn’s, an independent, co-educational Prep school in Woodford for pupils aged 3-11. We are an all-round school for all children.

Our aim is that each boy and girl enjoys the present while preparing for their future. Set in eight acres of grounds, the school is self-contained and well-resourced, offering small classes and high levels of teaching. Our motto from 1884 still sums up our approach today:

fortiter, fideliter, feliciter; bravely, faithfully, happily

Our pupils thrive both in and out of the classroom and achieve highly in terms of places, scholarships and awards to selective schools at 11+ and 13+.

Prep, your achievements are vast,
And on Friday we raised a glass,
To celebrate the year, it's true,
That you achieved things great and new.

We couldn't be prouder!
We’ll say it louder!

You studied, created, and you sung,
And at sports day my gosh how you ran.

In Art and DT
Your creativity was free,
How you performed in the PAC with glee.

Your focus was set
Across quartets and cadets
During fixtures and tournaments
You worked as a team,
How the trophies gleam.

You've cheered on your peers,
And developed skills for your future careers.
You overcame the challenges you faced,
And paved the way with courage and grace.

So here's to each of you,
Raising the possibilities of what you can do.

And to our Class of 2026,
Your legacy is a hit!

U11 Cricket for St. Aubyn's pupils has come to a close for the school year. Last week, we celebrated our girls finishing top of Division One, and this week, we are celebrating our U11 boys' outstanding performance at the Essex County DynamosCricket Finals.

The event began with four groups comprising 19 schools. Our boys delivered strong performances in the group stage, finishing as group winners and securing their place in the semi-finals. A tough match against Churchfields School required fantastic bowling to restrict their opposition and secure a spot in the final—the boys truly rose to the challenge.

In the final against Stifford Clays School, the team adopted an attacking bowling strategy complemented by a strong batting display from all players. They secured over 120 runs and were crowned champions of the event!

Well done to the team for this fantastic achievement in their last match representing St. Aubyn's before moving on to Senior School.

Learning the art of orthographic projection, Year 4 rose to Mrs Luscombe's exciting DT challenge.

Thinking like young engineers, the children have been translating three-dimensional ideas into precise drawings. Lessons like these contribute towards sharpening spatial awareness alongside creativity.

This term, our Year 1s have enjoyed being inquisitive scientists, diligently observing and documenting the natural world. Their focus on plant and animal life cycles has sharpened their analytical skills, moving from simple curiosity to structured inquiry as they finalise their findings in their workbooks.

This year, following a whole-school consultation and through our Smart School Council poll, we not only renamed our Wellbeing Garden to the Harmony Hub, but we also worked with our parent committee, SASS, who provided new resources to this space. And what perfect timing for the heatwave! 5AM took their first lesson outside this morning in the shade of the trees.

A huge well done to our School Councillors for their hard work and massive thanks to SASS for generously funding the resources to create such a welcoming space for our pupils.
