Recently we've been thinking of new ways we can celebrate our children, families and colleagues so Shirkaela had the great idea of creating proud clouds! Here we can feature photographs of those who have accomplished great things! Families did you know you can send photographs and observations via Parent Zone? Why not borrow one of our books from the lending library or a home learning inspiration and send us photographs of you and your child together?

She also wanted to create an every child is an artist space where we'll display children's recent artwork.

Please also see Carolina's BSL signs of the month for March! Thank you so much Shirkaela and Carolina!

The children have had a jam packed week full of fun and learning! The team have set up some amazing activities based on the children's interests including objects that shine, frogs and toads, how this grow and as we're moving into Spring the children have been learning about the parts of daffodils and drawing their own! Well done team!

Families! We shrunk the kids!

The team have created a mini-me of all the children for them to role play with. They're all set to be in a jungle for tomorrow but next week they could go to the zoo, a farm, under the sea, a construction site and to the beach! The possibilities are endless!

Last night we had our team meeting where we spent some time celebrating recent successes and achievements. We also awarded Carolina and Shirkaela as our colleagues of the month, both colleagues were thanked for their passion and dedication in setting up exciting, engaging and purposeful activities for the children and being a huge support to their fellow colleagues. We finished off with some great conversations around professional curiosity and the importance of sharing information with one another.

Today for Well-Being Wednesday we focused on Mindfulness with the team and provided some activities they could use if they were feeling difficult emotions. We made a word search with all of our names in, colouring in pages and crosswords. Also some healthy snacks!

Today for Well-Being Wednesday the colleagues and children have had a spa day! Our lovely deputy manager set up the training room with face packs, relaxing music, cucumber for our eyes, hot water bottles, healthy treats and even a special gift of a cupcake flannel! The colleagues decided they'd like to extend the fun to the children and give the baby dolls a nice relaxing bath and set up the water tray so that they could give their feet a nice, relaxing massage!

This morning the nursery management team received information about the HENRY programme which aims to provide support and guidance to families on promoting healthy, positive well-being lifestyles. With this information they created a display about this for our families and added information about the Eatwell guidance.

The children have had a wonderful week this week and there have been some amazing learning opportunities! From hairdressing with different styles of hair, to washing clothes and hanging them up to dry, rescuing sea animals from water that has litter in and talking about recycling to using loose parts to create flowers and designs on mirrored trays! And on top of that all of the lovely things the colleagues set up for Valentines Day! What a great week, thank you team!

The team have been hard at work this week creating some wonderful information displays for our lovely families. One display is all about British Sign Language which Carolina teaches our children, another is about Haringey's LEEP programme which the nursery uses to promote communication and language.

They have also made a display about developmental norms for different ages of children and displayed some help sheets on issues families may face. We're very proud to have finished our home learning unit that has lots of simple, quick activities our families may want to do at home with their children. Well done team, a huge thank you to you!

Happy Valentines Day all! We've started a day of celebrations with a bang! This morning we have set up a bake sale for our families (and colleagues!) that the children have been very busy making and decorating this week! šŸ˜šŸ„°

For Well-Being Wednesday colleagues were asked to write positive messages about their colleagues on love heart petals which our amazing deputy manager has turned into a flower, alongside a little giftbag of sweet treats. šŸ˜šŸ„°

Paul, our manager, has been hard at work with the children’s mental wellbeing, he has set up activities like a glittery colour monster water tray, where the children could fill the various jars depending on how they felt. Gemma, our third in charge, set up a dentist table. This was for toothache day. The children learnt all about how to keep their teeth sparkly clean and not get any cavities. Phyllis, our senior practitioner has been teaching the children about hand washing and keeping clean from the winter germs and explored this with washing babies. Carolina, our early years assistant, has extended the children’s favourite book, Howard the average geko, by teaching them about camouflaged insects and hiding them in the natural area. Ben, our early years assistant, has been helping the children learn about the Chinese New Year. He has made red sand for the children to write some numbers in Chinese.
