🌈 Pride Month: The Power of Belonging
Belonging sits at the heart of everything we do across PolyMAT. When young people feel seen, valued, and understood, they are able to learn with confidence, build strong relationships, and thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
Pride Month is a reminder of how important it is for every student and member of staff to feel that they have a place in our community - a place where they can be themselves without hesitation, and where their identity is recognised and respected.
Belonging isn’t created by a single moment or event. It’s built every day through the language we use, the stories we share, the support we offer, and the way we show up for one another.
This month, we are celebrating the diversity that strengthens our Trust and the inclusive culture that ensures every young person knows they matter.

Environmental Science in Action at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Girls
As part of our ongoing environmental science work, Miss Ruston and Miss Jolly have been leading by example with a community litter‑picking session on and around our school site. Their efforts support our wider push to help students understand the impact of everyday actions on the environment and to take pride in caring for their local area.
This hands‑on approach forms an important part of our science curriculum, encouraging students to think critically about sustainability, responsibility and the role they play in protecting the world around them.

Keeping Our Young People Safe Around Water This Summer
As we head into the warmer months, the Better Aquatics Team are encouraging all secondary schools to share two important water‑safety videos with pupils.
Summer is a brilliant time to enjoy our rivers, lakes and coastlines - but it’s also when the risks increase. In the UK, 71% of child drownings happen between May and August, and most incidents are preventable with the right knowledge and confidence.
To support young people to stay safe, please take a moment to watch and share:
🎥 Drowning – It’s Up To You (RLSS)
A 15‑minute, engaging video designed for assemblies, classrooms and youth groups.
https://vimeo.com/514252164
🎥 Float to Live (RNLI)
A clear, practical guide on what to do in an emergency.

Let’s help our young people enjoy the summer safely and confidently.
