And sometimes, that's where everything changes.

What does it take to become a successful graphic designer?

According to Irem Yildizeli, Subject Lead for Graphic Design at LCCA, the answer goes far beyond technical skills.

While learning industry-standard tools is essential, designers also need to think critically, communicate ideas effectively and understand the people they're designing for. By exploring subjects such as sociology and psychology alongside visual communication, students develop the ability to create meaningful, authentic design that connects with audiences.

At LCCA, we encourage students to experiment, embrace their individuality and develop the confidence to become thoughtful, creative communicators.

The games industry is constantly evolving, and staying connected to professionals working within it is key to preparing the next generation of creators.

Subject Lead Alex Makhoul explains how industry talks and guest speakers are an important part of the Games Art & Design experience at LCCA.

From 3D modelling and project development to production, direction and collaborative projects, students gain insights directly from industry professionals while developing the skills needed to succeed in a creative and competitive sector.

Typography is one of the foundations of great graphic design—and our Just My Type exhibition celebrates just that.

Inspired by LCCA's campus in the heart of London, first-year Graphic Design students explored different London boroughs, immersing themselves in the culture, history and character of each area before translating their research into original typeface designs.

Led by Subject Lead Irem Yildizeli and Course Director Mischa Welsh, the project encourages students to combine conceptual thinking with visual storytelling while gaining valuable experience curating and exhibiting their work in a professional setting.

The result is a vibrant exhibition that showcases creativity, research and the power of typography.

As part of Career Development Week, we were delighted to welcome Jade McSorley to speak with our Fashion students.

Drawing on her own career journey, Jade shared how she transitioned from working in fast fashion to specialising in fashion sustainability after returning to university as a mature student.

Her message encouraged students to embrace uncertainty, remain open to new opportunities and recognise that careers often evolve in unexpected ways. Jade also highlighted the importance of creating a fashion industry that puts people and the planet before products, reminding students that sustainability is about making meaningful progress rather than striving for perfection.

LCCAFest showcases the outstanding work of our graduating students across Fashion, Graphic Design and Games, while demonstrating how industry collaboration shapes every stage of the student journey.

From live exhibitions and inspiring talks to networking opportunities and an unforgettable graduate fashion show, LCCAFest is designed to celebrate creativity and create meaningful connections between education and industry.
