The bits you don’t see… ☂️

Our term is well underway but the finished performance is only a tiny part of what happens at Umbrella.

Before they get on that stage, there are weeks of learning, practising, getting things wrong, trying again, working together and slowly building the confidence to give it a go.

And somewhere amongst all of that, friendships are made, new skills are discovered and children start to realise they’re capable of a little bit more than they thought. 💙

We LOVE a show day — but all the bits that happen before it are pretty special too.

What do our teachers actually notice in class?

The child who joins in when they normally hang back.
The moment someone stops worrying about getting it wrong.
The new friendship quietly forming.
The first hand that goes up.
The little burst of confidence that wasn’t there a few weeks ago.

Of course we notice the singing, dancing and acting too… but it’s often the small moments that make us proudest. 💙☂️

Confidence looks good on you 💙✨

It’s not always about being the loudest in the room. Sometimes confidence is putting your hand up, trying something new, finding your people — or simply realising - “I can do this.”

That’s what we love watching happen every week at Umbrella. 🎭

September classes are filling up across Deptford, Catford & Kidbrooke.

Still not over this one 💙

Our ‘In the Spotlight 2026’ show was everything we love about Umbrella — big performances, huge smiles, proud moments and a whole lot of confidence on that stage.

Watching our students grow throughout the year and then absolutely go for it in front of an audience is pretty special. ✨

From first-time performers to seasoned Umbrella stars, we couldn’t have been prouder of every single one of them.

Here’s a little look back at some of our favourite moments 🎭

Same time next year? 👀
