The school was formed on 1 January 2010 from an amalgamation of Cann Hall Primary School and Tom Hood School.

📊 Our Year 6 SATs results are in, and we are incredibly proud of every single child who sat in that hall and gave it everything they had.

This year, Buxton’s results placed us above the national average, and not just by a little. Our children performed in the top 20% and top 50% of schools nationally when measured against schools with similar pupil profiles. That means our results are not just good in isolation. They are exceptional in context.

But behind every statistic is a child who worked hard, a teacher who believed in them, and a family who showed up. That is what these results really reflect.

Well done, Year 6. You should be enormously proud!

🩰 Last session of the year — and what a year it has been.

On Friday, something a little special happened. For the first time, every single child in our primary phase (from Reception all the way through to Year 6) came together through dance!

Because dance belongs to everyone.

Thanks to the incredible support of Park Charitable Trust For Girls and All About Dance, our girls have had professional dance classes right here on site all year: no travel, no barriers, just brilliant opportunities delivered straight to their door. And on Friday, our boys joined them. The energy in the Shakepeare was something we will not forget in a hurry.

The confidence we have watched grow in these young people over the course of this year has been something to behold.

To and : thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, and from every child who found something in themselves on that dance floor this year. We cannot wait to do it all again.

This is what a Tuesday looked like for Year 3, and we think you’ll agree, it was a pretty good one.

Our Secret Garden gave our children something that no classroom can quite replicate: the feeling of doing something real. Getting their hands in the soil, caring for a living space, and making something beautiful from what nature left behind.

🏃🏽 The sun had other ideas about Ashford this year, so we brought Sports Day home, and it was brilliant!

Athletics, dodgeball, football, team building challenges — our children threw themselves into every event with the kind of competitive spirit and joy that makes Sports Day one of the highlights of the school year, wherever it happens to be held.

Because at Buxton, it was never really about the venue. It was about the children pushing themselves, cheering each other on, and reminding us — as they do every single year — that this community is something special.

Family. In every sense of the word.

🪩 Year 11 went out in style, and we wouldn’t have expected anything less.

Friday night belonged to them; the dancing, the laughter and the memories made. Prom King Xavier and Prom Queen Kaiah wore their crowns exactly as they should: with joy, with grace, and with the kind of energy that made the whole venue feel it.

And then Billie Jean came on, and Year 11 reminded everyone exactly why we are going to miss them so much.

To the Class of 2026, you have been extraordinary. We can’t wait to hear about all the extraordinary things you go on to achieve. Just know that we will be cheering you on every step of the way!

🏀🏃 A huge well done to our Secondary students who proudly represented the school this week!

Some competed in the JR NBA 3x3 event at Trafalgar Square, while others took on the Waltham Forest Borough Athletics Championships. Fantastic effort, teamwork and determination from everyone involved. We're so proud of you all!

🐝 Our bees have been busy over the last few weeks! 🍯

We recently harvested a small amount of honey, and our Junior Bee Club members got hands-on with the process: uncapping the wax and extracting the honey from the frames using our two-frame hand spinner. It took plenty of teamwork (and energy!), but they loved every minute of it. We're so proud of everything they achieved!

Keep an eye on ParentPay, where we'll announce any honey available for sale as it becomes available. 🍯

Earlier this week, our Nursery children made their way into the Secret Garden, and came out with butterflies. 🦋

Not caught; made. Clay shaped by tiny hands, leaves chosen with real intention, sticks placed with the kind of focus that only a three-year-old fully committed to their work can manage. There is something quietly wonderful about seeing our littlest learners create something beautiful from whatever the garden gives them.

A special thank you to the Secondary students who supported our Nursery pupils in perfecting their creations!
