Discipline isn’t about being strict. It’s about learning to control yourself.

These moments at our recent grading might look simple — kneeling still, listening, waiting for instructions — but for children, they are incredibly valuable skills.

Martial Arts teaches children to:

* Listen when someone else is speaking
* Stay focused even when there are distractions around them
* Follow instructions properly
* Show respect for instructors and fellow students
* Keep going when something feels difficult
* Understand that progress comes through effort and practice

And the best part? These habits don’t stay in the training hall.

Over time, that same discipline can begin to show itself at school, at home and in the way a child approaches challenges.

We always want our classes to be friendly, encouraging and enjoyable — but we also believe children benefit enormously from having clear standards and being expected to meet them.

Friendly discipline. High expectations. Lots of encouragement.

That’s a big part of what Martial Arts is all about.

Such a lovely moment from Sunday’s grading.

Every now and then, you see a student perform and you can’t help but think… there’s something special there.

And Celeste really is something special.

There is real talent in this young lady.

But talent on its own is never enough.

What makes this so lovely to watch is the confidence growing alongside it — the belief in her technique, the commitment to every movement and the way she carries herself when it’s her moment to perform.

That confidence doesn’t appear overnight. It grows through training, encouragement, practice, little successes and learning to trust yourself.

And when talent and confidence start coming together like this… it’s very exciting to watch.

We are incredibly proud of you, Celeste.

A very special young Martial Artist.

**WHAT A GRADING!**

We went into Sunday’s grading wondering whether the long summer holidays might have taken the edge off a little…

We couldn’t have been more wrong.

From the moment the grading began, the seriousness, concentration and commitment from the students genuinely took us aback.

They were focused, they were determined, and most importantly, they showed just how much they had retained and how hard they had worked.

There was some stunning Martial Arts on display, but what impressed us just as much was the attitude behind it.

Coming back after the summer and being able to switch straight back into that level of focus takes discipline — and Sunday showed us just how much our students are developing, not only as Martial Artists, but in their confidence, self-control and ability to rise to a challenge.

We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped onto that floor.

A brilliant grading and a brilliant way to start the new term.

Congratulations to you all!

WE COULDN’T PICK JUST ONE!

Our Superhero Fun Day brought out some brilliant costumes, so in the end we decided there had to be TWO winners!

Christian – Batman from Crayford
Christian is one of our Little Ninjas and really embraced the day, proudly flying the superhero flag for our Crayford centre. We absolutely loved the Batman look — and that smile says it all!

Jaxon – He-Man from Bexleyheath
Jaxon, from our Junior Taekwondo programme, went all-out with his He-Man costume. The sword, the muscles, the whole outfit… brilliant effort!

A huge well done to Christian and Jaxon, our Superhero Fun Day fancy dress winners! 🏆

And thank you again to everyone who joined in across KBT. The costumes, enthusiasm and smiles made the day so much fun — and helped us raise money for charity at the same time.

Same KBT students… very different uniforms!

Please se your instructor for your prize.

Back to School. Back to Routine. Back to Focus.

After a long summer, getting back into routine can be a challenge for children.

If they’re struggling with concentration, spending too much time on screens, feeling nervous about school, or simply needing a confidence boost, Martial Arts can really help.

At KBT, our age-specific classes help children build:

✅ Confidence
✅ Focus and concentration
✅ Discipline and respect
✅ Self-belief
✅ Friendships and a sense of belonging

And the best part? They’re learning all of this while getting active, having fun and working towards their next belt.

Another KBT Summer Video Challenge entry!

This time Samyak has taken KBT all the way to Wales!

Well done for getting involved, finding a great outdoor spot and having the confidence to show off some Martial Arts away from the dojang.

The Summer Challenge was all about having a go, having fun and taking your training somewhere a little different — and Wales definitely counts!

Great effort, Samyak, and we love the little smile at the end!

Well done to Pradeep, taking his Martial Arts practice out into the garden and showing some great focus, balance and technique.

One of the things we loved about the challenge was seeing our students practise away from the dojang and having the confidence to show what they can do.

It really has been a Martial Arts summer for our students1

Great work, Pradeep — a really good summer entry!

Another KBT Summer Video Challenge entry!

This time it’s Tejan taking his Martial Arts out of the dojang and into the great outdoors!

It can take a bit of courage to start performing your Martial Arts in a public place with people around you — but Tejan just gets on with it!

That’s one of the things we love about Martial Arts. It isn’t only about learning kicks, punches and forms. It’s about developing the self-belief to have a go, push yourself and not worry quite so much about who might be watching.

Well done Tejan - amazing confidence!
