During lockdown and beyond in her tiny kitchen on several occasions Flo has cooked up to 20 wonderful fruit or meat pies. (Well over 100 in total ) for us to distribute amongst the vulnerable and elderly through our NEST /Harwich community centres hot meals service.

Every pie is made from scratch, the pastry mixed and rolled the fruit prepared and then cooked in her tiny oven. This is, I believe a remarkable act of community kindness, also a huge victory over age and supposed infirmity.

As you all know driving tests are suspended except for essential service personnel. The latest update is that everything is still on hold. Because of this I am unable to give driving lessons as my insurance would not be valid for instruction. I do hope that you all keep safe and I will post again as soon as things get back to normal.

Petition: Increase penalties for dangerous driving around cars displaying L-Plates 77% of learners are regularly experiencing intimidation/abuse from other drivers during lessons. As a result, 85% are making more mistakes and some have given up driving. A minimum fine of £100 and 3 penalty points on the offenders licence should be implemented to deter this abusive behaviour.

Changes to the DT1: checking for MOT and tax

Driving examiners will now be using a new mobile search app to check if cars used for driving tests have a valid MOT and tax.

Most people won't have to worry as instructor cars should have both valid tax and MOT.

Only cars which examiners have reasonable concern with will be checked, and it will not change how long the driving test is.

If a car is found not to have either a valid MOT or tax, the test won't go ahead.
