Sports betting is becoming more visible online — across apps, social media and sport — meaning young people may still be exposed to it even if they’re underage.

This guide highlights key risks such as easy access, peer and influencer pressure, and impulsive spending. It also offers practical tips for parents and carers on setting boundaries, spotting warning signs and starting conversations.

Sports betting has become increasingly visible online, appearing across apps, websites, social media, sports coverage and gaming spaces.

Even when young people are not legally old enough to gamble, they may still encounter betting messages through adverts, influencers, tipsters, friends or adult accounts.

Our latest guide highlights key risks, including:
• Easy online access
• Gambling becoming normalised around sport
• Peer and influencer pressure
• Free bet offers
• Impulsive spending and chasing losses

It also offers practical advice for parents, carers and educators on starting calm conversations, setting safer digital boundaries, spotting warning signs and finding support.

Exploring Future Pathways at the of East London 🎓✨

Our students recently enjoyed an inspiring visit to the University of East London’s Docklands campus, where they took part in a dynamic Careers Insight Day in partnership with the East London Business Alliance.

From exploring university life on a guided campus tour to engaging in an interactive workshop on Artificial Intelligence and future careers, students gained valuable insight into Industry 5.0 and the evolving world of work.

The day encouraged students to reflect on their strengths and aspirations, helping them to consider the many pathways available to them in the future.

We were incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and maturity throughout the visit, with students telling us: “It was nice to do something different” and “I loved the day out to see a university.”

A huge thank you to parents and carers for your continued support in making these enriching experiences possible.

BoxClever Brings Macbeth to Life 🎭

Our Year 10 students were captivated by a dynamic performance of Macbeth from BoxClever Theatre Company. Through fast-paced storytelling, creative staging and interactive moments, Shakespeare’s classic was brought vividly to life.
Students even took to the stage themselves, boosting confidence and deepening their understanding of key themes. The experience sparked real enthusiasm, with students feeling more confident exploring the play in lessons.

“It helped me understand the story and will help me with my GCSEs.”

🎨 Have Your Say, Greenwich!

An exciting new community mural project is coming to the Angerstein Flyover — funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich — and we want your voice to be part of it!

Before artists are selected, the organisers are inviting local residents, families and young people to share their ideas and help shape the design.

💬 This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to come together and influence a lasting piece of public art right on our doorstep.

👉 Look out for the consultation details and get involved!
