SKETCH - For the month of October, the Sketch design challenge brief on THE WOMAN IN BLACK by Susan Hill.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK is a haunting play about Arthur Kipps, a solicitor who hires an actor to help him recount a terrifying experience from his past. Years earlier, Kipps was sent to a remote village to settle a deceased clientâs estate at the eerie Eel Marsh House. There, he encounters the ghostly Woman in Black & uncovers a tragic tale of loss & revenge. As the story unfolds on stage, the line between past & present blurs, & the haunting becomes all too real. The play uses minimal staging to create suspense & fear through atmosphere & imagination.

SKETCH - For the month of September, the Sketch design challenge brief on HEATHERS - THE MUSICAL is a dark comedy rock musical by Laurence OâKeefe & Kevin Murphy, based on the 1988 film of the same name written by Daniel Waters.
HEATHERS - THE MUSICAL follows Veronica Sawyer, a high school senior trying to navigate the brutal social hierarchy at Westerburg High. She finds herself unexpectedly accepted by the schoolâs most popular & cruel clique, the beautiful but ruthless Heathers.
When Veronica falls for the mysterious new student Jason, J.D., Dean, their relationship takes a dangerous turn. As their rebellion against the schoolâs toxic culture spirals into violence, Veronica is forced to confront issues of identity, morality, & the consequences of revenge.

SKETCH - For the month of August, the Sketch design challenge brief on AND THEN THERE WERE NONE , a suspenseful mystery play by Agatha Christie.
Ten strangers are invited to a secluded island by a mysterious host. Shortly after arriving, a recorded message accuses each guest of being responsible for a past murder that went unpunished.
One by one, the guests are killed in ways that mirror a nursery rhyme called âTen Little Soldiersâ. As fear & suspicion grow, the survivors realise the killer must be one of them. With no way to escape the island, tensions rise & secrets are revealed.
In the end, it is discovered that the mastermind behind the murders is Justice Wargrave, who faked his death to carry out a twisted form of justice. After all the others are dead, he takes his own life to complete the plan. The play explores themes of guilt, justice, & retribution.

MATILDA at Cambridge Theatre, London.
What a visual feast! Rob Howellâs set is a playground of letters, with giant alphabet tiles framing the stage & hiding words for the audience to discover. These vibrant blocks magically transform into props & scenery, complete with trap doors, swings, & spot-on choreography that brings the whole world of Matilda to life.
Howellâs costume design contrasts the dull, muted Wormwoods with the hilariously exaggerated Miss Trunchbull, perfectly capturing each characterâs essence. Hugh Vanstoneâs lighting is just as expressive, from the shadowy menace of the Chokey to dazzling lasers that sync beautifully with the sound, music & movement.
But the moment no one will forget? That strobe-lit scene with the pigtail swing. It sent actual gasps through the auditorium. A must-see for the bold, the brave, & the brilliant.
