We're over the moon to announce our FOURTH National Read-Aloud Challenge, and registration opens on Monday!
This challenge was created with one simple belief: that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading, and that a little encouragement can spark a lifelong habit.
Supported by our Brand Ambassador, Clare Balding (📸captured here at last year's Awards Ceremony!) the has so far supported 25,000 on their reading journeys.
This year, we want to go even bigger and reach 50,000 children by the end of August!
2026 is the official Year of Reading National Literacy Trust, and there has never been a more important moment to champion children's reading. Reading for pleasure is one of the single biggest indicators of a child's future success, but too many children lose reading confidence over the long summer holidays.
Here's how you can get involved:

🏆👏 Congratulations are in order for the Winners of the National Read-Aloud Challenge 2025!
Last week, our Brand Ambassador Clare Balding had the honour of announcing St Joseph's Catholic Primary School-CT3 as National Winners and St. Bart's Multi-Academy Trust as MAT School of the Year for the 2025
These awards recognise each school's incredible efforts in encouraging reading excellence amongst their young learners.
At a time where 1 in 3 children find enjoyment in reading, we could not be prouder to be part of a growing mission to boost reading literacy amongst the UK's younger generations.
