Not just the answer — why each step works. If they freeze or jump to the end, that’s the gap. Find it before the first test, not after.

Grade 5 in GCSE Maths is not a work-ethic problem.

If they sit another stack of past papers without fixing the same two or three topics, they practise the same mistakes.

The jump to a 7 sits on Higher-only work such as Algebra. Functions. Proportion. Surds. Sine and cosine rules. Histograms. Fix those topics first. Then do timed papers.

Whilst it may still take some time for things to go back to “normal”, there have been some changes at the tuition centre that I wanted everyone to know about:

- All classrooms will be disinfected with uv-c light daily to kill any bacteria/virus.
- Parents will need to wait outside and not in the reception area when dropping off/collecting students.
- All students will have their temperature taken. Anyone with a temperature of 37.8 degrees or higher will not be able to attend.
- Hand sanitisers will be used in reception or hands washed upon entering.
- No stationery should be brought in or taken home. Equipment will be provided at the centre.
- Each student will sit at their own individual desk with maximum 4 students per class.
- Students should remain at their desks throughout the lesson and not share any equipment with each other.
- Classroom doors will remain open.
- Face masks will be handed out to students for them to wear during their time at the centre.
- Students will not be allowed to go out to local shops during break. Please bring snacks in a disposable plastic bag.
- Break times for each class will be at different times to stop students in different classes meeting.
