Last night we celebrated an exceptional year of sport at our Sports Awards Ceremony. Pupils from Years 9 to 12 were recognised across athletics, cricket, cross-country, football, gymnastics, hockey, netball, rowing, swimming and touch rugby, alongside special awards for leadership, commitment, volunteering and international representation.⁠
⁠
We were delighted to welcome guest speaker Tabitha Stoecker () Team GB skeleton athlete and 2026 Olympic Champion, whose story of reaching the top of her sport within five years of her international debut was an inspiration to every girl in the room.⁠

Congratulations to all our award winners. Your commitment, sportswomanship and performance this year have made the whole school proud.⁠

A huge congratulations to our incredible Year 7 cast for bringing Matilda to life with such energy, confidence and talent. From memorable musical numbers to brilliant acting and plenty of laughter, every student played their part in making the production a fantastic success.⁠

The dedication shown throughout rehearsals, both on stage and behind the scenes, was truly inspiring. Thank you to our staff, crew, musicians and families for supporting our young performers every step of the way.⁠

With glorious sunshine, plenty of determination and enthusiastic support from the sidelines, our pupils gave their all across a range of events, including the high jump, discus, relays and sprint races.⁠

Today, Natalya Doris, an accomplished graduate of both Yale and Cambridge, a nominee for Women of the Future, and the visionary founder of MENRVA — an innovative platform connecting artists with collectors and making the art market more accessible — addressed students at SCHS regarding artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship. ⁠

She challenged us to think of an everyday problem and devise potential solutions. Our students explored approaches to pet care, medication delivery, and climate change.⁠

We are delighted to celebrate our incredible outgoing Head Girl for receiving the prestigious Mo Bosch scholarship. This GDST award is aimed at Year 13 students planning to pursue degrees in journalism, media, or communications at university and has a focus on women in leadership and education.⁠

Her accomplishments are numerous; she represented SCHS at the Haileybury Model United Nations conference and took the initiative to organise ‘The Agora: Current Affairs Night’. During her tenure as Head Girl, she collaborated with the Deputy Heads to foster inclusivity, organising assemblies focused on neurodiversity and Iftar gatherings.⁠

Last Friday we celebrated our Year 13 students as they officially concluded their time at school, surrounded by their friends and families. ⁠

The evening began with a prize giving ceremony in which Year 13 leavers were recognised for their accomplishments and contributions to every aspect of school life.

Following this, families enjoyed a drinks reception with canapés, followed by a formal sit-down meal for students to commemorate their time at SCHS.⁠

Last week, Year 10 Geography students took part in a residential field trip to Flatford Mill in Suffolk, staying at the historic site made famous by Constable. They benefited from favourable weather conditions, which supported a rich and productive programme of outdoor learning.⁠
⁠
Across the visit, students completed a full day of coastal fieldwork alongside an urban investigation, applying classroom knowledge in real-world settings. They also trialled a range of data collection methods, developing their analytical and practical geographical skills.⁠
⁠
Residential and field-based learning are an important part of the SCHS experience, helping pupils to extend their understanding beyond the classroom. Through trips, cultural visits, competitions, and residential opportunities in the UK and abroad, students are encouraged to think independently, engage deeply with their studies, and build confidence in new environments.⁠

Earlier in June, 26 Year 9 students who have opted to study GCSE Art next year visited Tate Britain as part of their enrichment experience. The visit encouraged thoughtful observation, independent enquiry, and creative exploration as students engaged with the gallery’s permanent collection and the Hurvin Anderson exhibition.⁠
⁠
Working with care and curiosity, they produced sketches and gathered ideas to inform their first GCSE project in September, which will explore the theme of Environments. The trip reflected SCHS values of respect and integrity in the way students responded to artworks and supported one another in their creative process.⁠
