A good home-school partnership is more effective at building long-term digital resilience than a social media ban alone…

It’s easy to look for solutions in platforms, settings and restrictions.

Yet one of the strongest protective factors for any child is a positive partnership between home and school. Research proves that.

Interestingly, when we spoke to pupils, they told us they want their parents to ask how things are going at school, support their learning and attend school events.

🔎 Pupils told us that parental support affects how well they do at school.

Schools, parents and pupils all have a role to play.

When trust exists between all three, conversations become easier, concerns are spotted earlier and young people feel more supported.

Managing the end-of-term school run in a UK heatwave* is one thing 🥵
Managing anxiety around the UK’s social media ban is another entirely…
Parent WhatsApp groups are buzzing.
Anxiety is high.
Families are looking to schools for guidance.

So, let’s cut to the chase:

👇 Parents – what do you actually need from your school right now to help you feel supported?

👇 School leaders – what are you hearing most from your parent communities this month?

*I’ve succumbed and bought a neck fan. 10/10 recommendation.  🌬️

The UK’s social media ban for under-16s is the nation’s conversation. One of our first questions is:

📌 How will the ban affect the relationships between schools, parents and pupils?

The debate is understandably focused on technology.
But perhaps the bigger question is about relationships.

No policy can replace the value of trusted relationships between schools, parents and pupils.

Young people need adults who listen, guide, challenge and support them as they navigate an increasingly complex world.

✅ Technology matters.
💯 Trusted relationships matter more.

Get in touch if you have any questions on how to engage your school and support parents in this upcoming change, or want to share first impressions regarding the ban.

A great start to our first Four Pillars Masterclass session this week 👏

Thank you to everyone who joined us - it was brilliant to see so many school leaders taking the time to step back and reflect on their approach to parental engagement.

We’re looking forward to session two on 22nd May, where we’ll bring everything together and focus on next steps.

If you missed this round, we’ll be sharing more soon.

Big improvements don’t usually come from big initiatives.

They come from getting the right small things right - consistently.

That’s exactly where many schools are focusing right now following the White Paper.

In our May Masterclass, we break down:
→ what actually works in practice
→ how to apply it in your own context
→ and how to avoid adding unnecessary workload

If you’re reviewing your approach this term, this is designed for you.

You don’t need more parent communication.
You need a system that actually works.

Most schools are:
• reacting instead of planning
• repeating the same messages
• dealing with the same frustrations

The Four Pillars Masterclass is designed to fix that... properly.

Across two live sessions, you’ll:
→ step back from day-to-day firefighting
→ identify what’s actually causing friction
→ build a clear, sustainable parental engagement approach

No fluff. Just practical frameworks you can apply straight away.

📅 Starts 12 May (2 sessions)
🎓 Designed for Headteachers & senior leaders

Here’s the truth most schools recognise:

Parents don’t suddenly become “difficult”.

They feel unheard…
then frustrated…
then things escalate.

The White Paper is pointing schools towards something simple:
👉 listen earlier

Not more meetings.
Not more workload.

Just better, more consistent ways for parents to be heard.

That’s where the shift happens.

Want practical ways to do this without adding pressure?

What does good parental engagement actually look like? 👇

Not more emails.
Not more reminders.
Not more noise.

According to the Schools White Paper, it comes down to 3 things:
✔️ clarity
✔️ consistency
✔️ partnership

And when schools get this right, everything shifts:
• fewer repeated questions
• calmer communication
• more engaged families

Simple - but not accidental.

Belonging in schools doesn’t come from big moments…
It comes from consistent everyday experiences.

The new Schools White Paper highlights this shift 👇

When communication and routines are consistent:
• relationships feel more stable
• parents feel more confident
• issues don’t escalate as quickly
• staff spend less time firefighting

But when things vary? That’s where confusion (and frustration) starts.

If you want to build this kind of consistency across your school:

Parental engagement shouldn’t feel like constant firefighting.

But for many schools… it does.

With expectations changing (and pressure increasing), the real question is:
How do you build something that actually works long-term?

Our Four Pillars Masterclass (May) is designed to help you do exactly that 👇

✔️ Get clear on what effective parental engagement really looks like
✔️ Identify what’s working (and what isn’t) in your school
✔️ Build a simple, shared approach across your team
✔️ Start creating a long-term plan - not just reacting term by term

Delivered across 2 live sessions, with practical tasks in between - so you’re not just learning, you’re applying.
