Active April the Action for happiness calendar gives you little challenges to keep active and you can adapt them to your own abilities.

I’ve decided to be more active, by restarting some CPDs which have been left half done, increase the number of runs I do and to be more visible online again. By telling you this I have created external accountability for myself, which is helpful for me when I trying to get a habit going, before it becomes a routine.

HELP ME BUY AN ELEPHANT! PRETTY PLEASE!

You might know that I have a passion for elephants and might not be surprised that I want to buy one. His name is but Thong Khoun and he only costs $35.000,-.

Still, you might think that buying one is over the top even if we are moving to France and hope to get some more space. So he won’t move in with us in Nantes, but he will live well in the Elephant Conservation Center and he will play an important part in the difficult process of breeding baby elephants. If you choose to donate you help to save Thong Khon from a difficult life in the tourism industry, his mahout will be helped to find another way of making an income and you will help saving the Asian elephants. as he is very much needed in a conservation program, I can personally guarantee that it will go to buying Thong Khoun and I will someone I I know who goes there every year to confirm and send a photo of him when she goes next.

So if you admire elephants, you can give Thong Khoun a better life and help prevent Asian elephants extinction? Then read on or skip the reading, just follow the link and give some money.

If you don’t want to help you can still read on, possibly learn something and maybe change your mind?

2 years ago I had an incredible experience when I stayed 3 days in the Elephant Conservation Centre in Xayabury, Laos. We did not interact with the elephants apart from once when we got to touch one of them that had worked in the tourism industry. We did however observe them in their natural habitat, when they were eating (they eat all the time), bathing, socializing and in the clinic for their check ups and we were educated about their needs, their situation in Laos today and the complexities of successfully breeding and raising elephants.

Elephants in Laos used to work in the timber industry (now forbidden unless for timber for personal use by the owners’ family) or in the tourism industry. Many sanctuaries or other tourist attractions in Asia are actually not sanctuaries at all as the elephants are treated with medication to alter their moods, their behaviour and make them accept unnatural and repetitive “performances”, they are fed too little food and do not have enough grazing time. The food that are given them leads to diabetes (bananas are high in sugars, sorry), the treatment leads to infertility and the lack role-models leads to a range of complications and depression.

I can guarantee that the money will be used to buy Thong Khoun and I know a lady who goes ones or twice a year and I will get her to confirm that he is bought. I shall donate to save Thong Khoun and the Asian elephant after finishing this post and hope you will do the same!

Jump back July and Cancer scare
I present to you not only the Jump Back July calendar from Action for Happiness, but this time also the link to Cancer Research UK.

The theme for Jump Back July is resilience and how to deal with and recover after difficult events in our lives . It’s a very fitting heading for me as the first part of the year was a though at times. I had a cancer scare and just after I had a setback with my knees and had to stop running and exercise again. It was only a scare and I got all my results back on Friday and after 6 months no cancers or indicators of it can to be found. I am also back up and running again. So all is well with me, no need to worry thanks to
Still, it was scary and not being allowed to exercise and being in pain again ment that some of my usual ways to deal with things was taken away. I teach my clients what to do in situations where they need their resilience and how to build habits that increases it. I didn’t do all of that myself and at times I only did what I had to do for work, I isolated myself at times, I did some things I know I shouldn’t do didn’t do some of those I know I should. But I know I can practice and increase my resilience and the more I practice the better I get at it. So, please have a look at this months calendar and try out some of the tips so that you also are a bit better prepared next time life challenges you.

BIG LOVE TO ALL

THIS IS PRIDE
Looking forward to seeing this gorgeous strutting activist on Sunday!

Todrick Hall is as visible as red lipstick on a white t-shirt. He struts into a political climate where freedoms and rights are being challenged, care for others are diminishing and violence is growing towards those who are different to the norm.

His visibility not only empowers individuals within the LGBTQ community, but also challenges, educates and fosters understanding among those outside it. This is not a bankers lanyard handed out by HR for everybody to wear (rant available on request). Visibility and acceptance are great, so are sponsor and allies, but that is not pride.

Pride is not asking for acceptance, but expecting it and living authentically and we should be able to do so without fear of repression, hate or violence. If you find it hard to see:
- a transperson who doesn’t fit your standards of their gender
- two gay men holding hands out with their children
- a le***an girl flirting with your daughter
That is your problem not ours, don’t you dare take it out on us. ‘cause this bitch got:
Nails, hair, hips, heals!

Mindful March from Action for Happiness

Photos from Klaus Johansen - Coaching for Change's post 14/02/2024

There are so many myths, ideas, expectations, norms, hopes around love and what it should be like. Many are unrealistic, and today on St. Valentines day, even more pressure are put on us all to be in a relationship and that it should be fairytale-like.

Therefore, I wanted to give us all a little reminder today that it is crucial not to depend on affirmation of our value as human beings from others (or to depend on a partner to give us value). PsyD Christina G. Hibbert illustrates well how our self worth is built on the basis of Self awareness, Self acceptance and Self love. Self love might be thought of as cliché and self obsessed, but here it means acceptance of who you are now and with potential to continuous development, to have compassion and care for self.

So give yourself some love today and anyone you love who loves you, no matter what your relationship are or looks like to others
