The Estill Model is a system of voice training that identifies the structures in the larynx responsible for producing voice and those in the vocal tract or throat responsible for controlling resonance and voice quality. Using simple everyday sounds common to everyone, these structures are identified, isolated and then used to develop conscious, voluntary and predictable control of the voice. Wheth

Speech production is a fine motor skill that requires precise, detailed training whichever accent you are working in. Because you deserve to be heard and the audience deserves to hear the words the writer wrote, regardless of performing environment. What matters is how this is trained and the guidance offered in application.

“One in three adults in the UK now experiencing auditory problems…”

Protecting your hearing is important for everyone but is particularly relevant for singers and professional voice users. It should be given the same priority as looking after the voice.

Apologies! The previous video had the wrong date! The correct date for the Contemporary Speech Training for Actors and Singers is Sunday 14 June 6-9pm (18:00-21:00) BST.

Speech training is an essential element of the actor’s craft. It enables the actor to take the audience with them on the character’s journey. It allows for the expression of clarity of thought. If the audience can’t understand you _while you speak_, you’ll lose them and with that, all emotional connection. Regular practice of simple but effective exercises really doesn’t make a difference. The audience doesn’t hear effort, they are just caught up in what you are saying at the moment you say it. Join me for my workshop Contemporary Speech Training where I will share my approach to this vital element of the actor’s craft, based on 35 years of experience in film, theatre and TV.
