ST MICHAEL'S SUMMER FAIR – FRIDAY 10TH JULY 🌞🏫🍔🍦🍰🏰🎉🎵

The Summer Fair is a lovely occasion
where the children, parents/carers and teachers have a lot of fun whilst raising money for our school!

We will have a cake stall, ice lollies, and a bottle tombola to name a few. There will also be a BBQ and a bouncy castle and once again this year we will run events on a token system. This means instead of grappling to find the right amount of change for a school stall; they will be run using tokens for payment. The tokens can be purchased in advance or by card or cash on the day. On the day, token sales may have considerable queues so we would recommend purchasing in advance.

The Terrific Twos are Artists 2️⃣🌳🎨🖼📝

Shhh… don’t tell our teacher! We are secretly using her computer to tell you about our Art lessons while she is busy helping someone with their glue.

In Art we have been learning about collages and our focus artist is Megan Coyle. We looked carefully at how she layers and overlaps small pieces of paper to create detailed pictures.

We went outside to study the big tree in the junior playground. We noticed the shapes of the branches, the patterns in the bark and the different colours on the leaves. Back in class, we created our own tree collages by tearing, cutting and layering paper in different shades and textures, just like Megan Coyle. We even collected and added real leaves to our artwork to make our collages look more realistic.

The classroom was covered in tiny scraps of paper by the end of the lesson, so we are trying to finish this before teacher comes back and notices we borrowed her computer!

WE ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK OUT AND STAY SAFE 🟢🗣💚

We want all children to really know and understand that they have the right to speak out and stay safe. Working in conjunction with the NSPCC, we delivered the Speak out, stay safe workshops to children. These workshops encourage children to report worries promptly so they can get the right support.

As always, we had the NSPCC mascot, Buddy, in our classes, reminding us that it is ok to speak about the things that concern us.

The NSPCC provides trusted guidance on keeping children safe, including how to recognise signs that a child may be struggling and what to do if you are concerned. If your child tells you something worrying, stay calm, reassure them that they have done the right thing by speaking up, and share the information with the school or the appropriate safeguarding lead. By working together—parents, carers, and school staff—we can create a safe environment where children feel confident to speak out - and know they will be listened to.
